Are you craving for some Vigan empanada? Come and visit this famous city in Northern Luzon, which was named as one of the New7Wonder Cities.
“Vigan is a city in the Philippines, on the west coast of Luzon island. It's known for its preserved Spanish colonial and Asian architecture. Calle Crisologo dominates the Mestizo district, with its cobblestone streets, malecón, horse-drawn carriages and rustic mansions. Near the white baroque Vigan Cathedral are Plaza Salcedo, offering fountain light shows, and Plaza Burgos, known for its street-food stalls.” (Source: Google)
Since it’s my birthday weekend, Allan & I decided to extend my birthday celebration here in Vigan! I’m not a party person, that’s why I would rather visit the places I’ve never been to. #Vigan was in the top of my list. So, we took the bus from Cubao at 9pm last night and we arrived in Vigan at 4am. Even if we didn’t book a hotel, we easily found a transient house with the help of a local driver. We stayed at Manuela Inn, which was nearby the city tourist destinations.
It wasn’t a planned trip, I didn’t have a scheduled itinerary. Good thing, we were approached by a local tricycle driver who offered to give us a ride to local tourist destinations around the city. We only had 1 day tour. Following are the places we visited in Vigan.
• St. Augustine Church & Bantay Bell Tower
• Crisologo Museum
• Pagburnayan (Pottery)
• Hidden Gardens
• Baluarte
• Padre Burgos House- National Museum
• Plaza Salcedo
• Calle Crisologo
• Vigan Cathedral
• Dancing Fountain
FOOD- Ofcourse, this trip wouldn’t be complete without trying out some of the foods they’re known for.
• Vigan Empanada | Once you’ve tasted it, you’ll want more of it. I wished we have this in the Metro.
• Sinanglaw | This is their version of papaitan. Papaitan is known for goat meat, while the Sinanglaw has beef.

• The province is also known for their longganisa and bagnet, which we didn’t try for some health reasons. 😂
• But we also tried their mango with bagoong. Definitely, a perfect combination!
Overall, it was a great adventure! Haha. We promised to come back and explore the other sides of Ilocos, Laoag and Pagudpud.
Nice!
