Have you ever seen a spider wearing colorful stockings? If not, you have an opportunity now to experience “Maman” transformed with an explosion of colors.

Created by French-born American artist Louise Bourgeois, the spider-shaped bronze sculpture in front of the Mori Tower at Tokyo's Roppongi Hills has been wrapped with knitted fabric by American textile artist Magda Sayeg since Tuesday.

“Maman” is a French word for mummy. The creator’s mother was repairing tapestry for living, therefore the metaphors for spider weaving and nurturing are merited.
