Hi Steemians=)
When you think about Venice, words come to mind like romantic, couple holiday, gondolas in the sunset. But Venice is a nice special place on earth, which has to offer so much more.
I want to show you a little insight of my trip to Venice and what you can experience there and where to go for the best pizza in Venice. =)

When i arrived in Venice at the airport a bus took me to the central island of Venice, which is connected to the mainland with a small and very long street. Got out of the bus and walked a little bit around i was surprised of the feeling when i first stand in front of the river which flows through this city, called Grand Canal.

Venice is one of only a few cities, where you can´t go by car or by bike. All transports are done on water and you can experience all attractions by foot. So now here we are, i show you what you should have seen in this wonderful little city.

Indeed the mostly famous place in Venice is the St. Mark´s Square, where you can find the St. Mark´s Basilica with a manificently appearence. Built in a byzantine style it´s the eyecatcher on this place. You should really visit the basilica and take a look inside, because you will be surprised by the beautiful golden mosaics and sculptures.

If you love music, you should visit this place also in the evening, because groups of musicians play their music in a battle in front of the best cafes in Venice. They play mixed music from charts to classic music, but in their own style. So they will fascinate you and make your trip to very special.
Next to the basilica you can find the Doge´s Palace called Palazzo Ducale in italian. The inner space captivates with his wealth of golden stucco ornamentation and art works of old venetian painters like Titian and Tintoretto. In this palace you find the rooms of the great councilof Venice, where they gather together.

If you are interested a little bit in religions and art you can visit many wonderful churches in Venice with very famous picture of Titian, Bellini and Tintoretto. I visited more than 20 churches and every one was awesome on his own way. For me the combination of ecclesiastical art like sculptures of the holy mother and historical arts and biblical scenes painted by famous painters i´ve heard in school of, was a very awesome experience. The churches in Venice are beautiful as well outside as inside. I can recommend a visit in Venice famous churches like " Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari" where you can see the "Assunta" of Titian, "Chiesa di San Rocco" with amazing paintings of Tinteretto, the "Campo dei Gesuiti" with an extraordinary decoration and at least "Santi Giovanni e Paolo" (picture below)

If you are interested in pictures of famous painters, than you should go to the Guggenheim Museum. Peggy Guggenheim was a famous collector of modern arts in her time and opened galleries in New York, London and also Venice. Here she collected picture of e.g. Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque, Salvador Dali, Henri Matisse and Claude Monet, which you can marvel at. Outside you can sit in a wonderful little park and look at bronze statues.

And if you let fade away the evening just take a walk through the city and have a look on the beautiful scenes happening on Canal Grande, when you stand on the Rialto Bridge. For me it was the most wonderful view on my trip.

But if you want to take a gondola, you have to expect a very expensive price. Half a hour they want to have paid between 80 and 120 Euro. In my opinion a better alternative is to take a walk directy on the shore enjoy the view over the water.

This was my first part of my story. In the next part and last one i will show you what´s on the other sides of the central island and were to get the best pizza =)

I hope you like it. If it´s like that, i would be happy about an upvote. Thank you =)
