Lantern Festival in Daegu, South Korea

Lantern festivals are held every year in Korea for celebrating Buddha's Birthday during April. When I studied in Korea, going to Dalgubeol Lantern Festival was on my "to do list" of course. In 2016 I was living in the city of Daegu where u could see one of the most beautiful lantern festivals. It was held in Duryu park and consisted of 3 parts.

There were so many people and you should bought the ticket in advance.

The first part was like "warming up" with religious songs by the people in traditional clothes (Hanbok- korean traditional clothes).

Oh, don't forget dragons too.

Second part was "sky lantern flying" and all of us were waiting for that. Remember: You should take or buy your own lantern in advance. Most part of attendants were grandparents and grandchildren, fresh Korean couples and foreigners who had no clue what about people were talking in Korean around them and that's why kept themselves busy with taking such memorable pictures.

I tried to take the pictures of each detail. Like this.

And third part was lantern parade. Your could see a lot of Korean people in traditional clothes and playing their traditional instruments and other people were following them. It took around 3 hours from Duryu Baseball Park to Banwoldang Junction.
