What I assumed to be an officially sanctioned event last night turned out to be anything but. The property managers got wind of what had happened (a raucous, large-scale party lasting into the wee hours of the night), and promptly evicted the offenders.
They were well aware of the inconvenience it had caused me (as well as the neighbourhood), and promised to make up for the indiscretion.
Apparently, the upstairs renter had passed the property manager's filters because he had great reviews. Sadly, we live in a time when scamming and falsifying reputation are at an all time high, and even the best of us are at a disadvantage when it comes to identifying and filtering out the less than honest.
The property managers and the owner wanted to make it up to me, so they left some goodies for me – a couple of bottles of wine, along with muffins, a sandwich, mac and cheese, and white cheddar popcorn.
I can now see the method behind the madness – why I ended up at this specific Airbnb, at this specific time. Things are finally starting to go my way.
As an added bonus, I discovered one of the best pizzas I've had in Lower Mainland.
