Colmar is a small city in the east of France. Situated on the border with Germany, in the Alsace, it's considered the capital of the Alsatian wine.

The city is known for it's intimate and well-preserved city center. All of the houses have the typical style of wooden beams combined with colored brick which gives its unique character.

The city is located between the Vosges mountains to the west and the Mountains of the Black Forest in Germany to the east. This is also the cause of the microclimate of Colmar which makes it one of the driest cities in France. This, in turn, is the reason for the remarkable taste of the many white wines in Alsace like Riesling and Pinot Gris.
