«Kulangsu Island» (9 pics)

Originally known as "Yuanshazhou", alias "Yuanzhouzi", the Southern Song Dynasty ordered "Wulongyu", Ming Dynasty renamed "Gulangyu". Because there is a reef more than two meters high with caves on the beach in the southwestern part of the island, Gulangyu gets its name whenever the tide surges and the waves hit the reef, which sounds like a drum. Gulangyu Street is a small, crisscrossing island in Xiamen. It is the largest island in Xiamen. It is across the sea from Shimao Strait Building and Xiamen University on Xiamen Island.

Unlike the scenic spots mentioned above, most of these old houses are private houses and a few are business hotels, which do not allow visitors to visit.

Linshifu (Octagonal Tower): Located at 11-19 Lujiao Road. The former owner of Banqiao Linjia Linjia. The deputy building of Linshifu collapsed in May 2006.

The British Consulate is located at 14 Lujiao Road.

Japanese Consulate: 26 Lujiao Road.

Paradise: Located at 34 Lujiao Road, it was built in 1916. For Gothic architecture.

U.S. Consulate: 26 Sanming Road. It is now a hotel.

Fan Po Lou: Located at No. 36 Anhai Road, it was built in 1927. The former owner of overseas Chinese in Philippines has the right to grant sutras.

Yang Jiayuan: No. 4 Crossing Anhai Road to No. 27-29 Guxin Road. It was built in 1913.

Bagua Tower: Located at 43 Guxin Road. It was built in 1907. It is the landmark building of Gulangyu. The former owner was Lin Heshou, Lin Erjia's cousin. It is Xiamen Museum and Organ Museum.

Shipbuilding: It is located at 48 Guxin Road. Huang Dabi, the former master doctor.

HSBC Manager's Mansion: It's located at 57 Guxin Road. Founded in 1876.
