AZ on the Rocks & Desert Botanical Garden - Phoenix Arizona USA

Hey hey!

Super fun weekend.... while it was disappointing that the American Ninja Warrior Experience was cancelled in Phoenix Arizona, we did make the best of it and have a super great fun weekend regardless.

The American Ninja Warriors who were in town put on a course and held a Meet & Greet at AZ on the Rocks. We didn't realise we had to register beforehand and it was so super busy that we never got an opportunity to run the course they set up. Everyone was so super amazing and friendly though and we had a great time chatting to all the famous Ninja Warriors that we've seen on TV.

This photo above no where near demonstrates how many people there were.... it was crazy, crazy packed. Maybe a couple of thousand...

We managed to catch the most amazing sunset once we got back to our accommodation. It was slightly cloudy which just made it amazing.

The above photo is at sunset, while the photo below is pretty much in the same spot, but after the sunset. So many colours!

On Sunday we went back to AZ on the Rocks for a play. Here is a quick little vid.

Afterwards we went to the Desert Botanical Garden which was absolutely amazing. I've never seen cactus' before... they're such weirdos. How do they even exist? What's the point of them? Once again, the sunset was incredible. Phoenix is amazing! @bethwheatcraft is a lucky duck!

This photo below I thought was so great on my camera. I was pretty much 'we can go, I've taken the best photo ever taken'... but on closer review, it could be a trillion times betterer. Like, y'know, I could have maybe gotten it in focus. This is an important lesson to learn before we hit the Grand Canyon...

IMG_3926.png

Such an unfriendly guy... who hurt you so bad cacti?

IMG_3934.png

Of course I had to get the icon cactus shape. All that was missing was a Road Runner and an Acme Anvil:

Sometimes though, you just have to bring your own silhouettes:

We didn't get the purples on the Sunday night... but eugh, the colours we just so great. I'd highly recommend the Desert Botanical Garden - you defs won't regret it.... unless you hug an unfriendly cactus dude then you'll so massively regret it.

i could sure use a vacation over there so i can hangout with you and the rest of the crew lol.

BTW im going to post a video which im working with @brickey this week. i strongly believe it is curie worthy. I think you're definitely going to get a kick out this video. I could sure use the freshfive support on it.

Hey dude... that sounds amazing.
@thefreshfive isn't for you though... it's literally for super brand new users.

I'll definitely have a look to check if it's curie-worthy though! Make sure you don't use any upvote bots and it can't be about steem, steemit, politics or religion. Please reference and source any external info... can't wait to see it man! Super excited!

Some of the cacti you don't even have to hug to hurt you. Some of them just lash out at you like the jumping cacti! Glad you made it through unscathed!

Wait.... what?

Jumping cacti? Are you for serious?
Why is everyone here so scared of Australia when you have jumping cacti? That's insanity... I have to find one before I go.... if no one hears from me again it's because I fought some flora and lost...

Dude. Srsly. It's called Jumping Cholla. Watch yo back. Hahaha.

Looks like such an awesome place! Dude those skies look beautiful, and those cacti look mean AF, still, I'm sure they are big softies really! Such a shame about the Ninja Experience, I take it everyone got refunded at least?

Refunds are apparently in the works but I haven't seen any evidence of it yet... but they should be... Parental peeps on Facey have been talking legal class actions so I'm sure AWNE will do everything they need to make everyone as happy as possible.

Still no idea why it was cancelled... lots of theories flying around but I'm so curious to find the actual reason.

Hahaha, are you saying those big softies deserve a hug? Hard pass man... hard. pass.

P.S) As amazing as my new camera is... still didn't do all the sky colours justice. It was absolutely incredible!

Ah man, what a clusterfudge, fingers crossed refunds get processed sharpish, you do now live in one of the most litigious countries in the world though!!

Haha yep, all part of the ninja training man, NO PAIN!

I know what you mean, I don't think cameras ever really do it justice tbh, nothing like being there and enjoying it!

Hahaha I love reading your posts calling cactai "dudes" and saying that the photo could have been in focus! To be fair it is such a good photo I would have probably left at that point too, although I always remember my dad's saying "if a photograph is worth taking once, it's worth taking twice!" and it's so true! Glad you got to hang out with some ninja's too!

Ugh! I am SO GLAD to hear you say that.... I thought it was an amazing photo... and was so happy with myself and then when I showed my partner she was very meh about it. I still really like it though, the colours are just so nice on the hills.

That's a really good saying, I love it and I'm super going to incorporate that in my shooting. I'm sure your Dad said that in the film days too..

Thanks so much Verity! It really was an ace weekend.

It really is, I love the separation with the mountains and cacti in front, but yeah next time take 2 :P !

Yep even during film he would still always take 2 or 3, but you can't go home wishing you had taken one more, you can always delete the rest when you get home if they don't work too! I guess weddings has taught us that though!!

Cacti just evolved to be able to live in the desert, their spines are leaves that don't require as much water investment seeing as there's precious little there, and they're all bulbous as the water is stored in the body bit XD

Then they make it possible for those other psychotic things desert dwellers to live there too :)

Bummer about the experience thing being cancelled, least you had fun anyway :D

goatsig

I do remember from He-man that you could chop a cactus open with a sword and drink from the bowl of water in it's base. It's basically like a big green water bottle right?

Thanks Ryi... I really had a great weekend and am super looking forward to this week of Grand Canyon hikes.

Lol. He-Man. Always a reliable source of information.
