40 miles from camp to home! Last day of a 200 mile addictive bike trip

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

We made it through the night camping without getting shot, getting mauled by a wild boar, or getting our bikes stolen.

Here's a shot of the campsite Scott was able to get after we packed up our one-man tents.

The whole Babcock Wildlife Management Area was pretty cool but the eerie fog coupled with hearing 10 gunshots per minute from all the hunters almost made it a scene from a horror movie.

Hearing so many gunshots I was thinking either they suck at hunting or there's a lot of dead animals in there.

8:30 AM

We get all packed up and hit the road pedaling.

This was our main road for the day.... whole lotta nothin compared to the beautiful beach we were at.

Not thrilled about the conditions but hell, it was better than going to class.

9:30 AM

After pedaling about 17 miles, we found our savior for the day!

We planned on hitting a McDonald's for breakfast, but this was better by a long shot.

If you can't tell by my face, I was 100% stoked to get these fresh bagels and coffee. Shout out to The Bagel Factory!

After we left bagel breakfast heaven, we ventured back into North Fort Myers again where I proceeded to get a flat. flat tire
Yes, if you're counting that's 3 flat tires between me and Scott during this trip. But guess what! All 3 were in Fort Myers! So shout out to Fort Myers for having the shittiest and most of the time nonexistent bike lanes during the entire trip 👍🏼 very happy to call it home...

Anyways, we got all the way back to Scott's house where we started and took this epic picture after riding 200 miles on our bikes.

You can see on our faces the feeling of "hell yeah we just did a thing".
This is probably my favorite picture that Scott took on the whole ride. Looking at it, I just get the whole feeling of accomplishment and a thirst for more adventure.

I titled my first post about this ride "80 Miles of a 200 Mile Addiction Across Florida" and finished this one up with "Last day of 200 mile addictive bike trip" because I truly believe these trips are addicting. As I'm typing this blog post now, we're already planning our next one.
So, drop me a follow and stay tuned for more adventure stories if you want them!

Shout out to Scott @adventureforme for all the pictures on this trip! He's a great photographer and he'll be talking about our trip from his point of view on his own blog. Be sure to follow him!
