AIRPORT LOUNGE REVIEW #1 Madrid Airport MAD Terminal 4 Neptuno Lounge

in travel •  7 years ago

I had a long round trip flight from Bangkok BKK to Tenerife TFN recently and stopped off in Dubai DXB, Barcelona BCN and Madrid MAD along the way so I took the opportunity to pop into a few of the airport lounges using my Priority Pass card. There were a couple of highlights and a couple of crappy offerings and I will do a separate review on each for you guys. This one covers the Neptuno Lounge at Terminal 4 in Madrid's Adolfo Suarez-Barajas Airport.

If you travel a lot and don't already have one, I recommend getting a Priority Pass lounge card. If you want a 10% discount on one, send me your email and I will send you a referral. Their website is here: https://www.prioritypass.com

The Neptuno Lounge is on a floor above the gates at Terminal 4 so you need to head up the escalators or lift. It is beside the lifts behind the white doors.

There was plenty of seats when I arrived, each has their own light, table on the side and charging point.

There is a separate area with tables and chairs for eating before you relax. Check out the architecture on the ceiling! The whole of terminal 4 is covered with the same style. It is very impressive.

This is Spain so of course there was a selection of tapas available.

Plenty of fresh breads available to go with your tapas.

Loads of condiments to choose from.

The important stuff! Great selection of local wines and port. The best I have seen so far in any Priority Pass Lounge Worldwide (and I have been in a few now). These were decent offerings too, not like the vinegar you get in some of the Asian lounges I visit! Being Scottish and having lived in Bangkok for so long I made a faux pas and put a white wine in a cocktail glass. I could feel the derision from the locals and so humiliated, I went to relax where I could watch the planes. They did have a good selection of beers and spirits too.

I did have some tapas, although they were underwhelming they filled a gap. I went for the pasta and meatballs as I didn't recognise any of the other stuff and didn't want to risk a bout of botty misbehaviour during the next 16 hours of travel.

Definitely a lounge worth visiting if you are ever in the Satellite of Terminal 4. You have to get this cool undergound train there, like a mini Metro just to connect the terminals. Madrid Airport is a pretty cool place overall in fact. There's plenty of dining and shopping options, and the staff were really friendly too! They were fascinated by a Westerner with Thai documents (work permit, driving license etc.) when I was checking in!

Happy travels guys!
