On the first day of arriving in Helsinki, it was indeed frozen . The cold current from the North Pole brought Helsinki, which had a temperature of about -10 degrees in winter, to a rare temperature of -28 degrees. Turn off the machine. But every Finn we met said that we were lucky because it was not snowing until Christmas this winter, and just a few days before we came, the thick snow fell from the sky, which is what Helsinki should have in winter Look like.

Abandoning the hotel, I chose an apartment near the central station and wanted to find the character of the city like a local. A transportation card can take us on a tram in all directions and start to discover the secrets of Helsinki.

Helsinki Cathedral (Tuoomiokirkko) and Senate Square (Senaatintori) are undoubtedly the focus of Helsinki. This white domed church stands on the steps and is magnificent. The square in front of the church is a place for events such as the lively Christmas market.


Daylight in northern Europe is very short in winter. It only dawns at 9 o'clock in the morning and sunset at 3 o'clock in the afternoon. It is a little depressed, so the Finns designed a happy festival for themselves on cold nights. Like a show in the night, this night's visual feast is presented by more than 500 artists from different parts of the world

The LUX Light Art Festival is held on the darkest day of the year, so the festival atmosphere is even stronger. The festival of lights takes place in Helsinki's streets and the city becomes part of the artwork.

Helsinki borders the Baltic Sea and is Finland's largest port city. 50% of the country's imported goods enter Finland through this. From the ferris wheel of the port, you can not only overlook the buildings in the city, but also the beautiful view of the port.

When the temperature suddenly cools down in winter and the seawater temperature is higher than the air, the scene of seawater transpiration will appear, and the whole sea will be misty and beautiful.

The weather and scenery were so good that we temporarily decided to board the ferry to Suomenlinna. The ferry has an ice-breaking function that will not stop sailing even in winter. Standing on the ferry, passing by the islands covered with snow and ice, it is beautiful.


The frozen sea surface reflects the sky blue as the sun rises, and every place is covered with snow, a quiet place.


Suomenlinna was built on a series of small islands off the coast of Helsinki. It was built more than 250 years ago. It is one of the largest military defenses in the world and it has been included in the World Heritage List by UNESCO.

The ferry docked and had not yet landed on the island. I was stunned by the scenery in front of me. Everything was wrapped in snow and ice, everything was silver and white!

Although the weather is cold, how can photographers sit safely in the cabin in the face of such beautiful scenery.

That day, I never missed Suomenlinna Island, so despite the heavy snowfall, I set foot on the ferry again. The island of Suomenlinna in the snow changed to another look, which is still a silver-white world, but it clearly has another flavor.


What I see is like a completely frozen and isolated world, as if time has been frozen.
