Creating a “5 year plan” and realizing our lifelong dream: sailing around the world.

Skipper Marion was working as a nurse for the endoscopy section of an hospital, skipper Paul as an accountant (correctly: Head of order processing) at a software company.

We first met 2006. During our honeymoon 2008 the idea to spend our retirement years on the high seas was born. Initially 2022 as the start date. Then the skipper could retire with 63 and retirement pension should allow us to sail around the world.

Later recalculated it all again. The sooner we start the greater likelihood it will become reality. And if we restrict ourselves accordingly, the circumnavigation will work financially. So new launch date in 2017!

I will tell you how it works, from the pure idea to make it really happen. And actually we started in May 2017 and are now (December 2017) in A Coruña, Spain. The idea is to tell the story from the beginning up to now and then switch to live-reports about what we are experiencing on our trip around the world.

Well, our sunset years will hopefully not be limited to 7 years, it shall represent only the start into with a circumnavigation which might take around 7 years and were we might sail 7 seas and then let’s see to which places we will sail then.
