Traveling with young children is tricky at the best of times. You need to be prepared for all sorts of accidents and twists of fate. With that in mind, here are few useful tips for traveling with kids this summer season.

Plenty of time
Probably the greatest gift you can give yourself when traveling with kids is time. Whether you're traveling to your next destination, sightseeing or checking in to your flight at the airport, extra time is always useful. You're much more likely to have a calm, peaceful holiday without the pressure of getting to places on time. With having more time on your hands, you can factor in toilet stops, tantrums, and accidents so that they don't set you back.
Always plan
Booking ahead is another measure which can pay off when you have children. Whether you're staying in a hotel or going camping, there is nothing worse than arriving at your destination to find there is no room for you and your family.
Prepare for all weathers
Make sure you have all the essential gear at your disposal, and you'll go a long way towards eliminating stress. If your kids are dressed for the weather in their new destination they will be happier and will settle in much easier than if they are wearing the wrong ski suit, have forgotten their gloves or they don't have their wellingtons.
Bring a travel pillow
Let's face it, the best situation for everyone is that your child falls asleep on a long journey. So, encouraging them to do just that is key. Provide them with a soft, comfortable cushion to rest their heads on, and they will be out like a light.
Don't be afraid of public transport
You may be tempted to avoid the rush of public transportation and rent an expensive car, but remember that kids, especially toddlers, love the thrill of a bus or train journey. As long as they have a window seat, they'll be enthralled.
Pack a medicine kit
There's nothing worse than a sick kid on holiday. Don't forget to pack a medicine kit with some essential supplies in case the inevitable should happen. Your kit should include things like plasters, antiseptic wipes, a thermometer and sting ointment. You could also try a medicine like Calpol.
Planning and timing is very important when traveling with children. As a family we travel at least twice a year from southeast Texas to central Colorado which is a 16 hour drive. But when planning this trip we plan around the childrens needs. How often do we stop? Where do we stop? How long do we stop for? and on these stops do they have things to entertain children? Then we add all of these things together to see how long it will take us to actually get there. Normally about a day and a half but the trip is always enjoyable and memorable.

As a father of a small child I have to say that this article is totally invaluable...
Always plan
We've only made one large trip so far so you're right that you have to have the hotels ready and have those restaurants in mind, too. A two year old melt down in the car with no food in sight is not a fun thing!
We always bring some snack as well too to tie in to my last sentence.
I'll definitely be referring to this article later as well... Thank you!

I can bet, you don't have kids. Your post has everything for adults and nothing for kids.
There are toys, books, pencils, cd with music and dvd with cartunes, and others things for kids activity?
