Just outside Belize's capital of Belmopan lies
the best travel bargain of the nation, Guanacaste
National Park.
Guanacaste is named after a tree that grows huge
in Belize.
Open everyday from 8:30 to 4:30, this 50 acre park
has hiking trails, identified trees and plants,
picnic area and swimming for $5bz for tourists.
Just head inside the headquarters, and the ranger can
direct you two to hiking paths. The one which heads west,
hikes down by the Roaring Creek where they have a swimming
and picnic area. The longer hike north, about an hour,
heads you for the Belize River. This path takes you
over limestone formations and jungle bush, but the current
is too strong to swim.
For a great day to learn about Belizean flora, birding,
swimming, (you may see howler monkeys too) and less than
5 miles from Faith's Farm, Guanacaste National Park is
the greatest travel bargain in Belize.
