Hampilicious!

The Biker Gang all excited to explore the magnificient temples in Karnataka

Camping by the backwaters of the Yagachi Dam. The view of the Sunrise and Sunset from here was surreal

They say, as long as you have a vision and the gumption to see it through, half the battle has already been won!! Bangalore-based Wicked Ride India, a motorcycle rental company did that and much more when they recently collaborated with the Government of Tourism Karnataka to kickstart a one of kind "motorcycle tourism" in Karnataka. This is the first time the government has branched out of the mainstream tourism model to create an experience that will not only bring the rural tourism to the forefront but also facilitate the needs of scores of motorcycle tourists.

I was humbled to be leading the first, of many more such trips. We had fun riding with this group of people on the Heritage Road Trip.... Especially with so many lady riders, I was really proud of them, since a few of them are my riding class students.

Travel is a limitless sector and this recent move by the Government and Wicked Ride has paved the way for tourism to witness innovation and also new experiences. This recent ride to Hampi, a Kickstarter event and curtain raiser for the collaboration witnessed dynamic interactions between bureaucrats, businessmen, bikers, the locals, and the tourist.

A lot of different birds visiting the lake

Sunset Love

Since motorcycle travel is a fast emerging trend, a trend that also brings about certain needs and expectations, the need for affordable, clean lodging and entertainment which is also one of the many aspects the Karnataka Tourism Government is taking care of. We immersed ourselves in the local culture, participated, explored and took part in the activities organized for us and this ride to Hampi organized by the team ticked all the right boxes.

Principal secretary and resident commissioner rode to Hampi interacted with the riders, the locals and actually took out time to understand the quirks and struggles in planning a motorcycling trip.

We attended an open concert under the stars with world famous musicians, enjoying camping together, coracle rides across the river, a bonfire gathering, the same buzz will be witnessed around Mysore, Bandipur, Chikkamagalur, and many such treasured spots will be on the radar of the motorcycle tourists! So next time you feel the urge to explore Karnataka from a different vantage point, you will have an amazing fleet of motorcycles to choose from and Wicked Ride will also make sure that you explore, dream and discover!!

Thank you. :)

Motorcycle tourism in India looks awesome! That is exciting that the government is getting involved and it is a growing industry. I hope to make it out there on a motorcyle some day soon.

That picture of the sunset is unreal. Could be a postcard or book cover or something.
