Faroe Islands, Summertime part 1

Summertime in the Faroe Islands is the season where the weather is showing it's best side. The days are long, they're about 20-21 hours of light. When it's summer, it barely gets dark. But during the winter, like now in december, it's only light for those 4 hours it's dark in the summer.

When we hit the longest day of the year, or the day where it's daylight the longest, we celebrate it by climbing a mountain and watch the sunset and the sunrise from there. Usually it's groups of people going together, and then there are big gatherings up there (by big i'd say about 20 people). We'd leave our house around 10pm, climb the mountain, which duration depends on the difficutly. I am so lucky, that I live on the foot of one of top 3 tallest mountains (it's 741m), so it's pretty steep. For me, i think i got to the destination about 12am, and by then i still had an hour or so in sunlight. So this hour was spent on the top having fun, telling jokes etc., with all the people who also went on this trip. After that, I decided to go home, because I had school the morning after. To my surprise, the walking down took way longer than the climb up the mountain. I decided to sit down and slide on the grass. But you shouldn’t do that, because i ripped my pants. Since it was so steep, i used a lot of energy to walk straight, not to hurt my feet or fall, so when i finally could walk normally again, my legs were shaking and i just had to sit down. This trip is really something special, and definitely NOT my last one!
