fullsizeoutput_2610.jpegAfter being in Aalborg for two weeks, one of my best friend from the Faroes came to Denmark to study. She still had a few days before school started, so we made a spontaneous trip to Amsterdam.
We stayed at Casa400 Hotel for three nights. It was a nice hotel, pretty central, but we still needed to take the tram/train to city centre.

We left for the airport in the morning, our flight was around noon, but when we got there we found out that the flight was cancelled. This came as a surprise, we were not notified beforehand. So we made some calls, and got a fligh like six hours later. We arrived to our hotel in Amsterdam at 10 in the evening, and after being in our room for ten minutes, the firealarm went off. We were staying on the 7th floor, and we were not allowed to used the elevator - of course! We then were told it was false alarm, and could go up again. But, the elevators were still shut down, so we had to walk the stairs up! And as soon as we came into our room again, it went off again. But this time they told us it was false alarm in the speakers.

During our stay, we went exploring the city, visited the red light district museum, which was interesting, went to the Van Gogh museum, where Edvard Munch's Scream and other paintings were exhibited for a while. It was cool to see the famous painting!
in the evenings we went out, we both wanted to try the Icebar, and it was awesome! Definitely something everyone should try! you get three drinks included in your entrance, one before you enter the icebar, while waiting, and when it's your turn, you get a huge coat to wear in the Icebar. We also walked in the red light district. It's strange to see these things, when you come from a country where there's nothing like this displayed publicly.

We had a flight really early in the morning, and we didn't sleep until on the airplane.
So, Amsterdam is definitely worth a visit, if not for a whole week or so, then a few days are enough for a great experience and loads of memories.

Although, I do regret not seeing Anna Franks house ..
