A Morning Walk to the Beach in Hua Hin.

I awoke about 6:30 this morning and decided to take a stroll through the town of Hua Hin and onto the beach while most holiday-makers were still tucked in their beds.

HUA HIN

Hua Hin is a charming little sea-side town about 2 hours south of Bangkok and is a very popular weekend getaway for people living in the city. in recent years it has also become popular for European retirees due it warm weather, great food and reasonable living costs.

THE TOWN

The town was originally a fishing village and mainly consists of 3 to 4 story shop-houses. Many of these have been converted into restaurants, bars and guesthouses. The only high-rise is the Hilton Hotel which dominates the foreshore in front of the town. Located next to the Hilton is the beautiful colonial Sofitel Hotel. If you have ever seen "The Killing Fields" you will recognize it.

THE BEACH

Hua Hin in Thai means "Head Rock" due to the numerous large boulders which dot the beach. During the day, vendors set up chairs and umbrellas to sit under and eat and drink. The beach is several kilometres long and the water is warm and clear. Children can take pony rides up the beach if they wish.

Nice little town for a vacation!

it's perfect for a few days break from the madness of Bangkok.

Hi @bkkshadow
Thanks for the very nice post and beautiful pictures

thanks :)

Excellent to see some photos! I visited Hua Hin in 1994 and 1996 I returned and stayed at the Sofitel which is an excellent hotel. Tried both their suites and bungalows. The town seems to be left in good shape even though more than 20 years has passed.

Hi, I don't think much has changed in 20 years, which is a good thing. There is a lot more development however outside the city centre.

Hua Hin is such a great place. Wonderful photos @bkkshadow.

It's nice to see Hua Hin again, after a long time ago! This can remind me on the great time I had during my visit there! It's very beautiful beach and good for relaxing...... Thanks for sharing! :)

Nice photos and nice place ! :)

Nice place. :)
