Hooker Valley Track in the surroundings of Mount Cook, New Zealand

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

I would like to share this footage from the surroundings of Mount Cook. I have done many hikes in New Zealand and this was one of my favorites. I have always liked mountains and through this trail you have Mount Cook in the background almost the whole time. If I remember correctly the name of the trail is Hooker Valley Track.

Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand listed as 3,724 metres (12,218 feet). It is a very popular mountain to climb. Unfortunately since the early 20th century, about 80 people have died attempting to climb the mountain. That makes it New Zealand's deadliest peak.

Hiya, just swinging by to let you know that this post made the Honorable Mentions list in today's Travel Digest!

Cool! Thank you very much for that! :)..btw, your site is awesome!

Was there on a 4 week roadtrip almost 2 years ago now and (1) it was very rainy so couldn't see much, and (2) I think we're a bit older than you and not up to climbing high mountain trails! So glad I could experience this through you. You can find my 14 NZ posts on worldmap. Following.

I'm glad that you liked my post! :) Sorry to hear that you had bad weather! :/. Maybe you can go there again and hope for a sunny day? If I remember right, I would say that the trails were quite easy and not much climbing! :)

Added to the list - thanks for info!
