Follow me to the Mesmerizing Grand Canyon

in travel •  7 years ago

Did you know that the Grand Canyon is 5-6 million years old? That the Canyon is carved by the Colorado River? That the Canyon is 446 km (277 miles) long, up to 29 km (18 miles) wide and has a depth of 1,857 meters (6,093 feet)?
As soon as I heard about these facts I was surprised! Especially the age of the Canyon and that it is so deep! When I was standing on the edge of the cliffs and looked down it didn't seem that deep at all.

From the moment we arrived, "breathtaking" was my first thought. No wonder at all that the Grand Canyon belongs to the Seven Natural Wonders Of The World. One other thing I noticed was the silence and the peacefulness. Back home where I live on the countryside you can quite easy find that, but somehow the silence and the peacefulness in Grand Canyon was something unique!
To get the full effect of the red glowing Grand Canyon you need 100 % sunshine, when we were there the weather was partly cloudy as you can see in the pictures.

As we were strolling along the Canyon we soon realized that people are crazy. A lot of fools or maybe you can call them brave people where climbing in very dangerous places. Maybe just to get the perfect picture! No wonder at all that many people have died there.

Could sit here for a day
