A walk through Kings Park, Western Australia.

Spanning 4.06 square-kilometres, Kings Park is not only larger than New York's Central Park but also the largest inner city park in the world according to Wikipedia. A fact I only discovered myself whilst writing this post. Given the absolute sheer size of Kings Park, I couldn't cover the entire area in one walk so I decided to take you on a photo tour of just the eastern, city facing side of this iconic park.

On this particular day, as I approached the main entrance I started to notice that the traffic was abnormally busy. I thought maybe a wedding or a conference of a sort was on, but as I approached closer, I realised this was bigger than that. I idled in behind a string of cars and then I saw the signposts - 'Concert tonight.' Ok, traffic explained. There is always something on at Kings Park. The concerts on the grass and moonlight cinemas draw in large crowds from all over Perth and surrounding areas. Parking is generally not an issue but on this day, it was impossible.

I see my path, but I don't know where it leads. Not knowing where I'm going is what inspires me to travel it. - Rosalia de Castro.

As quickly as I could get out, I made my way around the back of the park where I found a little-secluded parking area that is coupled to one of the walking paths within the park. It took less than five minutes of walking to get to a familiar area, the 10th Light Horse Memorial where I started with the first photo. Below is a photo of one of the cannons that face out toward the city and Swan River.

Crossing Frazer Ave you get to Kaarta Gar-up A lookout point overlooking the CBD, Swan River and southern suburbs which an absolute must see!

There are numerous statues and historical plaques spread out across the park. The Rotary wishing well below makes a beautiful location for portrait photography.

Fraser's Restuarant overlooking the city is a stunning location for weddings, conferences or a romantic dinner.

As you approach the State War Memorial you cannot but be filled with a sense of awe. The obelisk towers 18 meters above in honour of those who gave their lives for their country. Toward the western side is the flame of remembrance. The State War Memorial is a very attractive area in the park for tourists and locals alike as there are spans of open space to relax and enjoy the impressive views that the memorial and the city have to offer.

Moving in a westerly direction you get to the botanic gardens. An expanse of living museum celebrating the rich and diverse flora of Western Australia.

After an aesthetically pleasing walk through a part of the botanic gardens, you get to the Lotterywest federation walkway; a treetop walkway bridge with incredible views of the park, Swan River and Swan Brewery.

What I really wanted to do in this post was to show you just a snippet of this incredible park. Like I mentioned there is a lot more to see and do than just this short walk and I plan to share a whole lot more with you. I had a blast taking these photos and if there is an area of Perth that you would like me to photograph, please leave me a comment below and I'll do my best to get out there and take some shots.

I appreciate you taking the time to read my post.

I love love Kings Park. One of my favourites spots in Perth.

I'd love to sit and play guitar in various spots in that park, would feel so inspired!

Yeah, there are some cool spots there to do just that
