Hello again! Today's stroll is a popular tourist attraction in the summer. It's Frogner Park - home to the Vigeland installation, created by artist Gustav Vigeland between 1924 - 1943. It is the world's largest sculpture park made by a single artist. The theme of his work is the circle of life.
Let's stroll...
As you enter, beautiful welcoming landscape allows you to see the park's layout,
Continue to stroll down a lovely tree lined path (its pretty in the fall when the leaves turn yellow and orange!)
I love this one,
As you make your way over the bridge...at the center on your left, is this little guy having a tantrum. "The Angry Boy".
Im unsure why this is the most popular. Its even been stolen a couple of times.
Because of it's popularity, visitors always come to hold his hand. Thats frowned on as its damaging the sculpture with some diminishing of modeling.
Next up, we have "The Wheel of Life" representing eternity,
Aside from the sculptures, it is a big park with plenty of roaming/picnic grounds,
At the top of the installation, we finally approach the great monolith, reaching up to 18 meters high. Carved from one granite stone and surrounded by more life moments,
And finally! After some good art appreciation, stop by the Frogner Manor House, Frogner Hovedgård, for a good cup of coffee and treat. There is also a free mini museum inside - go have a look! :)
I hope you enjoyed the stroll today.....until next time! :)
Do you live in Norway yourself? I think the angry boy is only so popular because it has been stolen, it wasnt that popular before
