Photolog: Beautiful Western Hills & Coast Of India In A USD 7000 Hatchback Car

in travel •  7 years ago

The South-Western part of India is famous for its beautiful mountain range which is locally known as "Western Ghats" - the word 'ghats' means mountains in local language.
This mountain range also becomes a divide between the fertile plains and the Indian Ocean. Between June and August every year, this range becomes stunningly beautiful due to the Indian monsoons. I toured this area in a small car called the Tata Tiago - prices start at USD 5400 for the basic model. The model I had was a top-end diesel version that comes with a 1.05-litre turbo-diesel engine. Here is a quick photo-log of the journey!

The secluded NH-4 highway that connects the financial capital of India, Mumbai to the IT city of Bangalore. I started my trip from the Bangalore airport and drove North towards Mumbai before taking a detour to the beautiful western coast roads

Inner country-side roads

At top of the "Ghats" or the mountains and heading down towards the coastal area

Taking narrow back roads to our resort - yes, the little Tiago was leading one of the convoys

Getting a little adventurous off the road - posing with the waterfall!

Same place, zoom-out shot

And that ladies and gentlemen is the beautiful western coast of India - near a place called Ganpatipule!

Same place - zoom-out shot. I spent a good half hour here on a little hill with nothing but the angry sound of the sea in the back-drop

Driving back to Mumbai and getting lost in paradise - I love taking narrow roads which aren't even marked on Google Maps

And finally a selfie before hitting Mumbai on the last set of twisties

Quick Notes

  1. Starting City: Bangalore
  2. Ending City: Mumbai
  3. Via: West Coast cities of Ganpatipule
  4. Days: 3
  5. Car: Tata Tiago
