"A Desert is a Place Without Expectation"

in travel •  7 years ago

The next leg of my trip to Morocco involved trekking into the desert on camelback. The Sahara is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been, but definitely also one of the most eerie. While it was an incredible experience to be there, I don't think I'll be rushing to get back to it. Something about the vast, dead space with nothing but sand and wind made my skin crawl, especially close to dusk and dawn.

That said, all the endlessly repeating but unique dune shapes and the patterns the wind traced in them were fascinating and the colors resembled a movie set when the sun was up: such a bright brown-orange under a clear blue sky.

We had some clouds or fog come through in the evening right around sunset which made the desert especially ghostly.

But it cleared up in time for a (very early) sunrise the next morning! We were already on camelback for this shot.

Hope you all enjoyed this pictures! The Sahara is a once in a lifetime experience, definitely worth a visit (and being on camelback makes it even better)!
