One of the attractions of the city of Novokuibyshevsk, Samara Region, is a street electronic clock with zodiac signs. Are a kind of "calling card" of the company LLC "Nova".
The initiator of the watch installation was Viktor Zelmanovich Michelson, director of the Kuybyshevtruboprovodstroy trust. Now trust KTPS - the company LLC "Nova". At the beginning of the 80s, a large panel with a picture of Lenin hung on a building on Dzerzhinsky Street 36A, but nothing was on the next house 36B. On it and decided to set the clock. Initially, the device was mechanical, but due to weather conditions, the mechanism quickly became unusable. He was replaced by an electronic scoreboard.
The author of the design is Alexander Prosvirnov, a Novokuibyshevsky artist who paints icons and decorates the walls of temples built in the city. Previously, he worked in the art workshop of the KTPS Trust, whose employees made decor around the watches. On the clock, near the scoreboard, in the lower right corner, you can see the initials of the artist.
The display alternately shows not only the hours and minutes, but also the date - the day and the month, as well as the air temperature. There is a built-in weather station. The metal on which the embossed works are performed is quite specific, it is used in the aviation industry.
A couple of times the board failed - moisture got in and a short circuit occurred. But for a long time the clock did not stop. The last major accident with the clock was in 2010 - they were struck by lightning. It was a direct hit that even damaged the hull. Now installed a board with LED lamps, which are hermetically sealed and also made all the entrances and exits.

Before I read your explanation, I could not believe someone had put that cold, rectangble digital clock face in the center ! It doesn't belong there. :) ...but at least they didn't take down all of the good part and use it for scrape.
