Omni Hotel - Fort Worth, Texas

I have been traveling quite a bit lately, making it difficult to keep up with my Steemit Blog. I have several more trips planned in the coming weeks, so I hope to pop in from time-to-time to keep things active and humming along. Last week, I was in Fort Worth, Texas. During this trip, I stayed at the Omni Hotel.

The Omni Hotel is located at 1300 Houston Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76102. I took Uber from the airport at a cost of forty dollars. The trip from the airport was approximately thirty minutes. I arrived at the hotel well before the 4:00 pm check-in time. It was closer to 1:00 pm when I arrived. I was advised that my room was being cleaned and that I would receive a text message when my room was ready. I went and had lunch at the hotel restaurant. They had a buffet with beef brisket set at 17.99. The food was okay, although I am not sure I ate twenty dollars worth at lunch. But it did manage to kill some time. When I finished eating, my room key was waiting on a card-holder next to the check in desk. I never received the text message, but I retrieved my key and headed to my room.

The room was spacious with a definite nod to the cow-town roots of Fort Worth. The history was evident in the colors, the leather and the prints hanging on the wall. It wasn't overly masculine, but the room definitely traced its roots to the cowboy heritage of the region. I had a single king bed, which was quite comfortable. Not quite a Westin Heavenly Bed but on par with a Marriott mattress. The bed had ample pillows for two people, and more than enough for just me.

The room included a large screen television that was never turned on. The bathroom was large, with the sink inside with the large walk-in shower and toilet. There was no bathtub, which is fine with me. That seems to be the trend in hotels these days. The glass shower wasn't completely sealed on the entry side, but surprisingly, it didn't leak. The bathroom was stocked with plenty of plush towels and washcloths and complimentary shampoo and soap products. Outside the bathroom was a small coffee mess. There was a tiny refrigerator, microwave and Keurig machine. There were two different types of k-cups to choose from along with cream and sweeteners. That bottle of water on the counter was eight dollars...I went to a nearby CVS to pick up some water.

The room had a large desk and plenty of outlets located near the lamp tables as well as on the desk. I had not problems charging my phones and computers. The work space was large enough to spread out when I had some work to tend to. I didn't spend too much time in my room working, but it was nice to have a little bit of space to do it when I did. Most hotels have shrunk the size of any work stations to college dorm room proportions. This was a full-sized man-desk.

My room was clean and serviced daily. Although they seemed to wait until late in the day to service it. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel included a pool and gym on the third floor. I stopped briefly but didn't use either. The pool looked rather nice. The hotel was located at the far end of Houston street, with numerous restaurants and bars to choose from. It was very convenient to get to inexpensive dining establishments and the entertainment nearby was decent as well. The hotel runs less than two hundred dollars per night, which is the going rate for upscale hotels in the area. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay and would stay here again.
