My Travel Diaries - Pay for Wasting Food!

I was on a trip to the UK and this was a day I was on my own. I was in the Chelsea area and had a night to spend in a hostel close by. Late evening, I decided to check out some reasonably-priced diners and this Chinese place caught my eye.

As I entered the restaurant, this particular announcement made me sit up and do a double-take. Never have I seen a restaurant admonish its patrons for wasting food, let alone charge them a fine! And it's good too, given the amount of food that gets wasted world over, this should make the patrons think twice before over-ordering.

What do you think of this?

It's a good move for sure. I also like how, in India, I notice people pack their excess food and give it to someone poor who is sleeping the night on the streets.

But yes, food wastage is huge and this does seem like a good move.

Yes, I like the move too. I wonder if they allowed their patrons to pack the leftover food and take it home for someone needy like you mentioned. Should have asked.
