Konstanz, Germany

Konstanz it's another beautiful city in southern Germany situated on Lake Constance (Bodensee in German). The lake is actually a part of Rhine river, which starts in the Swiss Alps.

Exactly at the entrance of the harbor of Konstanz, you can find Imperia, a 9m high statue which weighs 18 tons and is raised in the commemoration of the Constance Council that took place between 1414 and 1418.

Imperia is a woman holding two men, Pope Martin V and Emperor Sigismund and illustrates a story, written by Balzac, La Belle Imperium, in which Imperia seduces cardinals and princes at the Council of Constance and has power over all.

Also, do not forget that the statue stands on a pedestal that rotates around its axis once every four minutes.

The Old Town, which is large considering the small size of modern Konstanz, has many old buildings and twisted alleys.

Konstanz has some great graffiti paintings, which you can see at the station underpass from the marketplace to the lake.
