Some Friendly Graffiti in the Azores.

in travel •  8 years ago  (edited)

Good evening everyone.  One of the best parts about our trip to the Azores, were the people. Everyone was so friendly there.  We were surprised that we didn't see any other tourists from the USA the whole time we were there.  I'm telling ya, those islands are awaiting a tourism boom that is bound to happen.  Flights from the east coast are also pretty cheap, FYI.  Especially from Boston.

Anyway, as I was saying, the people of Sao Miguel were very friendly.  That friendly vibe even shown through in the graffiti and vandalism around the island! Kylene and I got quite a few good laughs and smiles from seeing it, so I hope the artists take comfort in knowing it's working.  This one was right in the capital of Ponta Delgada:

^^^You can't help but to smile at two fish kissing with floating heart bubbles!

This next one was spotted on a short wall on one of the many beautiful vistas that are peppered around the island.  Not quite as artistic as the last one, but I thought it was pretty awesome that someone chose this to paint:

^^^Good request too.

This next one was on the western part of the island on the roof of an abandoned 5-star hotel that we were exploring.  Again, not exactly artistic... but, satisfying nonetheless!

^^^Don't look back in anger.

This next one is either friendly, or sarcastic.  I'm not exactly sure which one.  lol  See, it was also on the roof of the abandoned hotel and was written above a shaft that went down all 5 stories. I'll stick to thinking it's just a general friendly message to "take care"!

^^^The shaft was at the left there.  Went all way down to the basement, I believe.

This last one is my favorite.  It was found in Ponta Delgada on the other side of the town.  I liked it's message because it felt like that's exactly what we were doing at the moment.  :)
