@rinawonderlans Asian Sunday entry:

I woke up to see a sunrise, and luckily there is also a little rainbow over the sky, which is rare to see here. It's beautiful eventhought it's not a full one. The colorful sky, give a reflection color to the sea and sand. I took this pretty picture in Candidasa beach, a relaxed spot on the east Bali where you could snorkel.

@vinceboisgard Australian Monday entry:

Queenstown is a cute little town located on the south island of New Zealand. It build on the raffle of a gigantic lake and surrounded by the mountains. Here is a capture I shot while wandering around the lake. This man was sitting on the small pierre, chilling by the water under the branches of the tree. I wasn't going to Disturbed, so I waited patiently for him to stand up and leave!

@intrepidphotos Tuesday of Antarctica and world´s oceans entry:

Sometimes, if only for a moment, time seems to stand still. It’s amazing to think that 91% of the iceberg is hidden under the water. Iceberg floating of the coast of South East Alaska. It’s a single hand held exposure taken from a moving boat.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday #19 – winner announcement!

@mibreit-photo African Wednesday entry:

This is maybe the most photographed rock on La Digue. It looks like the back of an ancient animal in the sand of Anse Source D'Argent. It was really peaceful there in the evening when most of the day visitors left and people went off for dinner. If you don't fear the huge crabs that roam the beach and rocks after sunset, it's worth to stay :-)

I've submitted more dramatic photos from this place, but I love the simple serenity of this one. This is Ålesund, a sea port town in Western Norway. This is so far north that even in June (when I visited in 2016), the high temps were only 55-60F (13-15C). But the natural beauty here rivals just about anywhere else I've seen. And seeing the sun set close to midnight really is pretty wild.
norway.JPG

Pisturesque. Definitely can image living in a place like this :) Far away from all the hustle and bustle.

In simplicity lies its beauty! What a wonderful place. Tomas

Dresden Academy of Fine Arts

A photo from our trip to Dresden back in 2015. This city is pack with incredible buildings from different time periods and architectual styles. Tis photo was taken from the Augustus Bridge and shows the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts along the river Elbe.

What a great entry! Thank you so much for you submission. Tomas

Thank you Tomas! It's always fun to participate and connect with the others:)

I shot this one in the village of Kinderdijk in the south of the Netherlands. This place is best known for its 19 iconic 18th-century windmills. I waited till sunset when everything was closed, and this beautiful waterway and the windmills were bathing in the golden rays.
87697EBB-24B0-43CA-B748-E101F0B27876.jpeg

Beautiful pic @itchyfeetdonica :) i missed this place! instead i went to Zaanse Schans for the windmills. Nice place also

Thank you! Yes I'd love to visit Zaanse Schans! =)

I love Kinderdijk!! Sadly the day I was there the sky was very overcast and flat but I still love my photos from there. However, yours is soon much better than mine is! Gorgeous shot!

Thanks Matt! :) It's common that you got that kind of weather there. I was really lucky that day!

Postcard shot! :))) Beautiful.

Wow, what a beautiful photo!

Thanks =)

The reflection and colour is beautiful! I want to go there!

Go go go... ;) You will make it sooner or later.

I think you have a winner here, @itchyfeetdonica!

Thanks Derek! There are so many amazing shots here, and mine is not the best. :)

@czechglobalhosts disagrees. ;)

Alright, I should ask you for opinion next time! ;) Just saw your win on the North America one, congrats! =)

Well, I didn't think mine would win, but I had a good feeling about yours! :)

Oh - and good luck in the weekly vote! :)

Wow, what a beautiful image! Thank you so much for sharing and your continued support! Tomas

My pleasure, Tomas. I'm having so much fun joining your challenges! :D

My entry is below. It is winter in Europe now. I shot this a couple of weeks ago. I did not expected much from very foggy morning, but since I was on location I patiently waited for a sunrise. I got back home with only about 15 photos and very disappointed of weather conditions, but as I shoot almost all my landscapes to uncompressed RAW and at ISO64 for maximum DR, I managed to extract as much as I could in post and result turned out to be amazing in my opinion. What do You think?

Thank you for submitting this bautiful shot. Stunning image. Tomas

Yes it’s indeed amazing! I love the hues and the texture of the snow and branches.

Thanks! Needed to play with vibrance, clarity and contrast settings to achieve that sweet spot.

nice contrast of the snow & the sun :) @perfectsense

@rinawonderlands yeah, I always loved that contrast of cold snow and warm sun. That is why I love sunny days in winter, however there not many of those...

Klaipeda's Old Town is notable among other towns in Lithuania for its abundance of German and Scandinavian architecture. Klaipeda's Old Town is unique with its fachwerk architectural style and the planned street structure, which is uncharacteristic to any other old town in Lithuania. Its streets are geometrically configured very correctly, and the angle of intersection is always straight.

The series of summer night photos from Klaipeda old town (yachts port) made while ago: https://steemit.com/photofeed/@axeman/night-lights-of-the-old-town

Thank you for your great entry! Kindly stay tuned for the winner announcement coming later on today. Tomas

Two hours drive out of Tromso, Norway. It was past mid-night. We had been in the freezing cold for 3 hours, and yet there was no sign of what we seek. We were ready to call it a night. Suddenly someone shouted, "Look, it's here!" . We looked up, and there it was, a strong northern light display, moving in the sky like a green coloured wind. I quickly set up my tripod and captured this picture.

Beautiful photo! I like the simplicity in composition. And, of course, the colors! :)

That is something on my list of things to see! Great job capturing the northern lights. Tomas

Thanks! I am glad you liked it! Thanks for organising this competition, there is a lot of good work around!

Beautiful photo and description! I like how you told us the story of getting this shot. =)

La Pedrera, Barcelona

Barcelona has some stunning architecture, most of all by the citie's most famous architect, Gaudí. This building is called La Pedrera and seems more like a sculpture than a builing, especially the roof terreace is spectacular.

Barcelona!! I hope to go back and visit some more. Great photo!

Thanks! Barcelona is such a beautiful city.

Barcelona is one of my favourite cities in Europe! Thank you for sharing. Tomas

I feel like if Barcelona and Prague had a competition for the best architecture in Europe it would be a pretty tough race! I also love Barcelona.

Monsaraz.jpg

An incredibly beautiful view of the sunset on the horizon, photographed from the narrow medieval alleyways of Monsaraz, a centenary village located in the Alentejo region, southern Portugal.

That is a stunning image. Thank you so much for your submission. Tomas

Thanks Tomas!
Cheers

Here's my entry for 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday

versailles rinawonderlands.jpg

The majestic Neptune statue on the Water Parterre in Palace of Versailles, France. This was one of the best sunset i ever saw in my lifetime. It's so beautiful. The sun was so big, perfectly round and the color was so vibrant. I really love how orange was the sky , and then it got reflected on the water fountain as well. This is one of the highlight on my last Europe trip. Hope you Steemians like it as much as i do :) Cheers and Good luck to you all .

Just like a postcard shot! Great job. Tomas

Thanks Tomas 🙏 , im glad you like it 😊

Evening on Geirangerfjord

Evening over Geirangerfjord_DSC3689-HDR_1000px.jpg

We were diving up the Ornevegen road over amazing Geiranger Fjord. The higher we were going up, the more breathtaking the landscape we saw. Soon the intense sunrays made their way between the mountains. I couldn't move further and stopped at the first site. The cruise ship appeared just in time letting me to show the scale of the fjord and the mountains.

https://steemit.com/photography/@dmytrokorol/evening-on-geirangerfjord

This is absolutely amazing!

Thank you!

Just stunning! Superb image!

Thank you Tomas!

I took this photo in Grindelwald, Switzerland. It’s probably one of the most beautiful villages in the world and it looks like that it would only exist in fairy tales. It is a tranquil place and you can truly forget all of your problems and indulge in the stunning views of Switzerland.

I went there when it was all covered with ice. Looks so different when the season is different! (I assume this is autumn?)

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Haha I went there in December but I don’t know why it wasn’t covered with ice. Maybe the altitude is not high enough.

I agreed with you@htliao .Its abeautiful fairytale town 😍

Thank you :) It’s really a nice place.

Visitors to Rovinj are often struck by its resemblance to Venice, its neighbor almost directly across the Adriatic Sea. The only thing that seems to distinguish “Little Venice” from its namesake is the absence of canals and busloads of tourists.

The similarity is not a coincidence. Rovinj, once controlled by both the Byzantines and the Franks, was regular victim of pirate attacks. Across the Adriatic, Venice eyed the city, which was then an island, as a possible outpost for their maritime empire. In 1283, Rovinj swore its allegiance to Venice in return for protection.

Nowadays, however, Rovinj is a Croatian city and the tensions with Venice are long-forgotten. Twenty-first century visitors to the city are the real beneficiaries of that long-ago relationship.

As I position my camera to capture the city, I don’t think of faded empires or animosities between cities. I only marvel at the beautiful hybrid created by the fusion of cultures in Rovinj.

This was taken in Scotland highland. The weather there is ever-changing, and it's rare to see the blue sky. The pleasant weather enabled us to unveil the beauty of the highland: the snowy mountain, the golden ground, and the mirror-like water. We were simply stunned:)

Great to see a submission from you! Thank you so much for sharing this stunning image. Tomas

Thanks sooo much too Tomas!! Have a nice day, cheers!!:)

At which month did you take this image?

:) I went there in November!

Very pleasant photo!

Thanks a lot shadalene!:)

Beautiful shot, Susan! Great to see you here. =)

Thanks a lottt itchyfeetdonica!! great to see you too:)

A few years ago, we spent our Christmas and New Years in Paris. It was one of the most memorable end of year celebrations we've had. The city of romance does not disappoint. The lights on the tower would change colours on different days or shine differently depending on the occasion. I love Paris!

Iceland is a very beautiful place. A lost place on Earth. I had the chance to travel in Iceland back in 2008 while it wasn't a touristic place yet.

Driving the Open Road of Iceland was such an amazing adventure. I've never seen places like it neither I found this feeling of being on my own amazed by every single thing I was seeing.

This shot was taken while I was driving, looking like a road to Paradise!

Location: Iceland.

It's a pretty special experience getting the opportunity to roam
around such beautiful historic architecture all by yourselves. This photo was taken at Ballycarbery Castle in south western Ireland on our last trip to Europe.

Waterfall of the Gods.

Iceland. Goðafoss is one of the island's most beautiful waterfalls. The story goes that at the turn of the first millennium the Icelandic parliament decided to adopt Christianity as the official religion, whereupon statues of the Norse gods were thrown into this waterfall.

Godafoss

Beautiful chromatic!

Awesome long exposure! I'd love to visit the north of Iceland one day, only did the southern part last time. :)

Slieve League is a mountain on the Atlantic coast of Ireland. It is one of Europe's hidden gems. The cliffs at Slieve League (or "Sliabh Liag" in local Gaelige) are twice as high as the famous Cliffs of Moher. I consider it as one of the finest marine cliffs in Europe. You can hike the 'one man's pass' and can also see dolphins play on some days! Breathtaking.

This awesome beach is located in East Iceland some kilometers north of the town Höfn.
It is not one of the popular places in Iceland. I think it doesn't even have a name.

But that does not have to be a disadvantage. While at popular beaches like in Vik you always have hundreds of tourists you can stroll along this beach in solitude!

I captured this image while it was raining heavy but I could not go without taking the picture I wanted...I had to constantly wipe the filters in front of the lens because of the rain drops.

I really like the composition of this photo - so drawn to it each time I scroll down this page!

Beautiful. I've never heard of this place. Toast to your solitude ;)

I take this shot during a sunset in Manarola, one of the small town of the Cinque Terre, literally "five lands", in Italy. If you happen to be there remind to be at the viewpoint before the sunset to find a good spot :)

Manarola

That is a great shot of a beautiful place I hope to visit sometimes! (Maybe this summer :D)

This is a photo from Meteora in Greece! Meteora is a rock formation in central Greece and is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
These breath taking rocks host monasteries but unfortunately you cannot see any in this photo.
It is a well known place for climbing as there you can find numerous challenging routes.
A truly unique place that I love and whenever I visit I find my peace there...

Cool image! There's a winning photo of Meteora with the monasteries some days ago in this challenge. I'd love to visit it one day. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you so much! :) It is an amazing place you will love it!! :)

This gorgeous structure is called Casa La Gordejuela. It is the first water pump on Tenerife, Spain. Five floors of imposing architecture make up the main construction with the giant windows.
It is fascinating place that you will not find in brochures for tourists.

This drone photo was taken from the Happiest Country In the World! The scenery is refreshing, surrounded by mountains, waterfalls, lakes.

  • Worth to visit and highly recommend this for tourist who wants to unwind or go camping.

  • Perfect spot to see the eye-catching Northern lights or go skiing, located in the heart of Voss, Norway.

Sansoucci Palace in Potsdam, Germany

This little cosy palace and it's garden are a lovely place to visit.
In this picture I love the kale-like plant in the foreground, the green looks just amazingly fresh.

A view of Barcelona. The photo was taken from one of the towers of the Gaudí's church La Sagrada Familia. The building in the background is the Agbar Tower, a postmodern building, icon of the contemporary Barcelona.

Panoramic view of the bridge Ponte Sant Angelo and the Castle Sant Angelo before sunset on a hot summer day in July 2016. The bridge was completed in 134 AD by the famous Roman Emperor Hadrian, to span the River Tiber from the city center to the castle.

Lapland in Finland. Winter wonderland. We we their in january. The days were very short. It was only be light at 9.30 hour and dark again at 14.00 hour.
But besides that, we had a great time. Beautiful
rides with the snowscooter, ice fishing, skiing, and huskey dog sled. I want to go back again to see the Northen Lights.

Memories from a lost past haunt this abandoned homestead in County Kilkenny, Ireland. Houses like this are scattered all over Ireland due to the incredible historical population collapse. In 1841 the population of the area now covering the Republic of Ireland was over 6.5 million and by 1926 the population had halved down to 3 million.

Surrounded by high cliffs, the Shipwreck Beach, in Zakynthos Island, is one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet!

Its white pebble contrasts with the blue water and with... The shipwreck of a freightliner that wrecked after its crew of smugglers tried to escape the Greek Navy, in 1980.

Our short time in Rome was beautiful! We were only there for 24 hours but managed to make the most of it by going to the main sights and Trevi Fountain was one of them! We even threw a penny in to gurantee our return we hope!

I took this photo in Cappadccia - Turkey. I had 3 days trip and loved it. A very beautiful place and the people were very friendly. Definitely a place to visit. They have nice underground tunnels full of history and ancient churches.

This isnt the kind of picture that normally wins but I really like it. While I was flying home from Prague (I wish I never had to leave there) and had a layover in Copenhagen. While waiting for my next plane the sun started to blast through the window and I took this picture. I have always enjoyed the contrast it had and I think adding the slight blue really brings the picture together.

This is a small memorial on the top of a hill in Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England. We just had a little bit of rain, and it was close to sunset which caused the clouds to turn this beautiful pink/red colour.

This photo is from one of my favorite European countries - Ireland. It is a country of amazing nature. You can find here for example Cliffs of Moher or beautiful ruins of old castles as you can see on the photo, also it is country with rich history, for me is specifically interesting Celtic Mythology, which is traceable from many places located there.

Italy was dream of me. I am using "was" because I went there last summer. Rome, Florence, Pisa and Milano. I can say that it's an unbelievable memory for me. The happiest ten days of my life I spent in Italy, Europe. My dreams came true, when I am front of the Colessium and Fontana di Trevi. I prefer you all to see Italy.

I took this photo at Sardinia (Italy) in the near of Porto Taverana on the north-east coast of this amazing Island. The Island in the back with his huge hills is called Isola Tavolara. Its highest point, Monte Cannone, is 565 metres above sea level. The half of this beautiful Island occupied from the NATO and their military personnel...

While taking a stroll around town in Patershol, I was awestruck by the view. The medieval streets and vibrant colours in the sky made for a picture-perfect sunset. So I had to capture it!

This photo is from Montserrat in Barcelona, Spain. It is a very beautiful rocky massif, it is considered the most significant mountain in Catalonia. The big rocks with the green of the trees make it a very beautiful landscape.

Monserrat3.jpg

Last fall, I was with my brother in the mountains of the Karkonosze. Karkonosze are on the Polish-Czech border with the highest peak for the name Śnieżka. The picture was taken as we were coming down from the Śnieżka. Down there you can see the city of Karpacz where we had an overnight stayDSC_0343-001.JPG

Berchtesgaden - Germany

I thought this was a church, but when I tried to visit, I found out that it is actually a cemetery! Berchtesgaden is a small town in the Bavarian region of Germany.

Big Ben

The tower is actually called Elizabeth Tower and the clock is actually called The Great Westminster Clock. Big Ben is just a very famous nickname for both. It is currently under renovation and it will be covered up by scaffolding until 2021.

@czechglobalhostsI know there are a lot of difficulties you and Sylvia encounter, but I hope this beautiful island helps to see everything in perspective. Your pictures are very beautiful and you know, living out of a bag must be harder when you are older, that is true, but I hope the beauty and the freedom will ensure balance

photography ........................................... this post very nice..and great photography...i appreciate your contest..carry on my friend!!!!!!!!!!

wow. pls take me to your country!

diffucult contest.good luck..

An exceptional natural phenomenon and a monument of nature. It is 27 km southeast of place Kursumlija. Colors of both rock and springs are truly incredible. There are two sources of water of high acidity, so the water has a strange taste and is not recommended for drinking, although the local citizens believe in its healing power. One of the sources is "Devil's Source" and it's red because of the huge amount of iron in the ground. Because of the richness of the country, there are also holes of the mines of the 13th century made by Saxons. In near area is the church of Sv. Petke beside which is a wooden pillar for which, according to the belief of the locals, the sickness of a diseased man will vanished, if people wipe away sick spot on body with handkerchief, and tight it onto wooden pillar. Seven days later they are removed from the pillar and buried underground so that the disease will remain forever in the Devil's Town.

Visiting Venice is always incredible experience. My photo done last September, in the morning time, when gondolas are standing and the gondoliers are waiting to give you ride.

I took this picture on a small island called Værøy in Norway. We chose to walk up a mountain to see if we could get a nice view from the top and lets just say it was amazing. I wish everyone had the opportunity to stand there 600 meters above the sea.

Riga in winter,
A beautiful atmospheric old city with lots of deserted remnants from the post-soviet era.. the latest winters haven't been as cold as in my childhood, but i think this picture gives that chilly feeling of frozen air between you and the sun that shines but doesn't warm :)

This image was made by me before 10 years with - samsung powershot 480 when i imagined that i would become a photographer one day. Nowadays a rarely practise but good memories from old pictures still left.

Hope you like it.

This picture is from Ireland Galway, in 2017 clicked by my brother. It is very rare to see such a clean and beautiful beach. To visit a country like Ireland was really great experience and lots of fun.

Hello! this time I want to share this photo delight with its beauty, is the BASÍLICA SAGRADA FAMILIA located in BARCELONA - SPAIN. Although it is still under construction, it seems like a marvel to me, I am very Catholic, and I think it is a unique and beautiful temple

Thank you very much ! :)

Hi, This photo was taken on the Greek island of Crete. With sun most of the year and crystal blue seas its a great place to spend your holidays. I visited there back in 2011 and my favorite place was Agios Nikolaos, with its beautiful Lake Voulismeni lined with tavernas (restaurants) its a great place to enjoy the amazing Greek cuisine.

This large building is known as "Les Invalides" or "Hotel des Invalides", and is situated in Paris, France. I took this photo a number of years ago while on a bus tour with my high school through several European countries. This building currently serves as a museum, containing several monuments dedicated to France's military. It also serves as a retirement home for Parisian war veterans - something I thought was very neat.

At first glance this doesn't look like a photo of Europe. But it was taken in St.Marks square at the Vatican. The endless sea of chairs were there for a Easter Mass with the Pope. I'm not much for religion - but the whole experience was pretty amazing.

This picture was taken in Castillo de Baños, a small village in the south of Spain (100 km east of Malaga). I took it from the top of the house which is a terrace, so as you can see, the house is just next to the sea.

This photo was taken in September 2016 during a beautiful autumn in the Salzkammergut, in the heart of Austria. To enjoy the amazing view and to discover the unbelievable mountain landscape around Lake Wolfgang, simply use the Zwölferhorn cable car from St. Gilgen.

I take this photo in Prague. This bridge is charles vridge.
Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV, and finished in the beginning of the 15th century. The bridge line up the famous Czech statue of saint. Some statue has story that give good luck if you touch the statue.

Last year's christmas 📷

I went on vacation with my girlfriend and we rented a bungalow for us on the Schwielochsee in Germany, next to Berlin. Unfortunately there was no snow at all, but we went for a walk serveral times to explore the see and the nature around it. I'm glad that i could capture some of the stunning reflections on the water.

I really love the clouds reflect on the see in this picture! I hope you like it.

This shot was during morning walk in the beach with my love. The morning expression of hope and happiness. xoxo

This is my entry for the contest. This photo was taken at the feet of "Cristo Rei" in Almada. The view is of the bridge connecting the South and North side of the Tejo River in Portugal, where you can also see part of Lisbon bay.
