For one heart-stopping moment, this giant Simba was 7 feet away, had his eyes fixed upon me, and was walking right toward me in my open-sided safari vehicle. My pulse went through the roof, but at the last possible second, he turned aside and walked around our vehicle.

I took this photo inside of Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Monaco. This is the tomb of Grace Patricia Kelly, who became Princess Grace of Monaco after marrying Rainier III in 1956. Princess Grace was married inside this church and was buried here after her tragic death in a 1982 car accident. I took this photo on September 14, 2014, the 32nd anniversary of her death. The church was fairly full with people coming here to remember her on this day.

Such a beautiful photo. I love the minimal use of color.

Ponte Vecchio is the famous historical bridge in Florence that looks like it has houses hanging off it. They are actually shops, shops that use to sell meat back in the medieval times but is now selling gold and local handcraft jewellery. The bridge look very magnificent from afar, especially on a gloomy afternoon when all the lights are turned on.

Beautiful Florence, glad to have an entry from there, especially such an amazing image. Tomas

This magical "Fairy Bridge" is hidden away on the West Coast of Scotland, set in ancient woodland with a stream running down from the mountains you could think you were in a scene from Lord of the Rings!

Great entry:)

Thank you!

Well this is an amazing picture. I could definitely see this in the Lord of the Rings with those goofy big footed kids running around with that ring crossing that bridge. That waterfall is awesome. Great shot.

Thank you ! Haha yeah it really did feel like I was there, I loved this spot!

That truly is beautiful. What a great scenery.

Thank you Tomas!

I love the coast and most of my travels end up near some shoreline. This photo here was taken in Wales a few years ago. It shows the Mumbles Lighthouse and Bracelet Bay on the Gower Peninsula. It was still long before sunrise and I used a long time exposure to capture this scene. This created some nice mystic look with the moving clouds and fog like water

What a sky! Tremendous colors.

2017 - 08 - Norwegen (1344)-HDR.jpg

This shot was taken near an unnamed lake in norway, in an empty area in the highlands between the shore and the inland. Its late of the day, cloudy and no humand beeing are in 30 miles reach. A great moment to remember.

Beautiful reflection. This is such a great shot.

Thank you so much for your wonderful entry. The reflection in your image is stunning.

It has been a while since my last photo from Iceland.

I just have to make it to Iceland one day. So many great images from there are just rising my curiosity.

Sunset over the Lipu oasis, Italy

editedresized_DSC1433.jpg

Well, could be just a stretch of water, but in fact this place it's one of the best place to admire birds in all Italy.
The Lipu oasis it's a WWF natural reserve located in Tuscany, near the coast, on the eastern side of a lake named Massaciuccoli.
There, along the year seasons, you can admire the arrival and the departure of hundreds of different bird species and their massive migrations.
Around the oasis you can hide youself with your cameras inside wood shacks and quietly admire the nature.
A place to visit, not so known, if you are traveling in Italy near the tuscany coast.

That seems like a fabulous place and your image is just adding to its beauty. Thank you for sharing. Tomas

The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Naxos island, is Portara, witch means great door in Greek.

This iconic monument is just the door of what was supposed to be one of the biggest temples in ancient Greece but was never completed!

026_MG_2723.jpg

Two in one - the beautiful ancient sight and the lovely sunset!

Thank you @rimicane for the support, glad you liked it!

What a capture! Great job, thank you for sharing with all of us.

Thank you very much!

This place is called Sommoroy, a small island on the Westside of Tromso. Weren't it the snowy peaks in the background you would think you are in the Caribbean. Temperatures are rising here and soon all snow will be gone.

Great to run a contest like this since some places I have never heard of, just like this one:)... Thank you so much for participating with this entry. Tomas

Yeah, thanks for running this contest, always nice to go through the other entries.

I would love to go there one day:)

You should, I will write a more elaborate blog about this island soon :)

Please do it:)

In our second day on the Lofoten Islands in 2016, it was mostly raining. But the weather was constantly changing, and the breaks in the clouds created impressive play of light and shadows on the mountains. This shot I made on Flakstadoya Island near Vareid.

The Glyder Fawr is one of the amazing mountains in the Snowdonia, Wales, UK. There is a path to go up in this image. Climbing was ok, the walking back was a challenge because our feet were very shaky! The view from the top of the mountain was a breathtaking experience!

There are two paths - challenging and moderate. Guess what - we took the challenging because it was the shortest up. What a mistake - always go for the longest because they are the easiest! Unless you are physically fit!

Glad to see you back in my contest. You do not participate much but it well worth the wait:).....

Guilty 😇 Thank you, Tomas!

Victoria Street in the Morning, Edinburgh

Victoria Street leads to the Grassmarket which is a historic market place and an event space in the Old Town. I used panorama technique to create this unusual composition with view from the gallery above the street.

Plane wreck at Sólheimasandur Beach in South Iceland

Well between all the sunny photos I'll post a more greyish picture of the DC-3 Plane Wreck in Iceland today. Laying in on the black lava beach for more than 40 years the remaining parts make up a perfect place to explore and photograph. You have to walk about an hour from the parking lot towards the plane wreck close by the shore. Stick to the marked path and enjoy the landscape which is really fascinating. More in my latest post.

A week ago, I went to spend a weekend in Lausanne, at the invitation of a friend. The purpose of this weekend was to discover the city of Lausanne, which I did not know at all.
it's pretty Lausanne. I discovered a city of character and charm, with its pretty houses, its slopes and descents, its metro that climbs, its cathedral, beautiful, its squares and Lake Geneva, omnipresent, which gives him an incredible sky at any time of the day.

Love the composition of this photo, nice work 👍

Thanks a lot.

Croatia boasts many picturesque towns on the Adriatic Sea, among them Dubrovnik is one of the most popular, and it is for a good reason. From my photo here, you can see the typical pale yellow limestone buildings with light red roofing tiles. They are scattered along the hills, under the blue sky and watching the beautiful bay.

Beautiful!

Thanks! =)

Today I'll take you to the top of a hill so you can enjoy this magnificent hazy landscape from the Cévennes in France. Layers of hill till the horizon, this is a wonderful place to visit. You can enjoy spectacular scenery every morning and evening over there :)

Thank you very much. The view was so calming and relaxing, it is my pleasure to share it with you :)

Santorini is very famous Greek island, but I recommend you to go also on other small islands around, you will find there secret beaches and calm. nyway you will find there good food, good weather, good wine and beautiful views.

man I've always wanted to go to Greece, it seems so aesthetic. This is an awesome picture, I like how you got the bell towers in the shot. great job

So... go!:) thanks :) it's not like the perfect shot, but I like unperfection :)

I plan on it! And hey nothing is perfect so imperfection is perfection in my books. This picture reminds me of a James Bond film

Porta Nigra in Trier, Germany
Porta Nigra (Black Gate) is a Roman city gate built in the year 170 AD.

Trier, which stands on the Moselle river, was a Roman colony from the 1st century A.D. and then a great trading centre beginning in the next century. It became one of the capitals of the Tetrarchy at the end of the 3rd century, when it was known as the 'second Rome'. The number and quality of the surviving monuments are an outstanding testimony to Roman civilization.

Lake in Norway

This summer I hitchhiked from Germany to Norway with a friend. Near the touristy village Geiranger we found a beautiful uncrowded two-day hike. Since I was travelling light, I didn't take much of my photography gear, but luckily we met another German guy on the hike who lent me his tripod so I could capture this long exposure with my ND-filter!

Amazing... There is so much that is cool about this from the awesome reflection to the great lighting.

Thanks a lot for always finding nice words for my photos :) This is really encouraging!

San Sebastian Cathedral, Spain.
(Construction completed in 1897)

April 4th, 2006.

Not your typical shot of the cathedral. The whole city seemed like it was under construction when we passed through. I like the look it created for the photo though. Such a wonderful Spanish city by the sea near the southern border of France.
If anyone has a recent photo from this street in their library, I'd love to see the change!

Estremoz is a typical city of the Alentejo region, located in the heart of the territory which occupies most of southern Portugal. This is one of its streets ... Breathtaking, right?

Panoramic photo of Bratislava (Slovakia). The image shows three bridges that cross the Danube River. They have interesting names and histories. The first bridge (at the foreground of the image) is the Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising also called the UFO bridge, for the shape of its tower.
The second (not very visible in the image) is the Old Bridge. It has changed many times of manes reflecting the history of the country. And at the background of the image there is the Apollo Bridge. It opened in 2005.

Basalt rock formation in the Eifel, Germany. Basalt is a dark volcanic rock. When basalt magma reaches the surface it freezes in hexagonal pillars, creating these iconic formations. The Eifel is a low mountain range in Northrhine Westphalia, where you can find a lot of dead volcanoes.

Vilnius the capital of Lithuania, has a medieval center with many interesting churches. But the entrance to the Nationaltheater is a eye-catcher with its modern black figures "THE MUSES".

During my 2 month stay in Madrid, I visited Retiro park numerous times. This massive park which literally translates to "retirement park", was built for the entertainment of the Spanish Monarchy in 1680, and was not opened to the public until the late 19th century. This is the back of the Monumento a Alfonso XII de España, and the center piece was covered by scaffolding for the entirety of my stay, so I feel very lucky that the scaffolding was gone the last time I visited! ~Thank you~

This photo was taken when I was going to Pilatus Mountain from Kriens. Cable car is one of the most popular and important public transports in Switerland. Tourists love traveling by cable car as they can enjoy the breathtaking view in Switzerland with a commanding prospect.

this Photo was taken on Aegina Island in Greece showing Temple of Apollo with amazing view in the background. Aegina its a small Island not far from the Capital Athens it takes less than 1 hour with a Boat, better to watch the weather before going there, because we had a bad luck on that day and we stuck for 2 days on the island because of the rain.

This photograph was taken last night while on vacation in Nice, in the French Riveria.

As light was beginning to fade at sunset, the natural colors of the buildings can be appreciated.

Away from the crowded beaches and restaurant strips, this side alley reminded me of the history and culture that are the forefront of this beautiful city.

Ink sunset

Today I present a photo of a place that any of you hardly will see with your own eyes. This is a little-known river Kostroma in one of the small areas of the central strip of Russia. I very often shoot sunsets and sunrises on this river. This sunset was remembered to me by the unusual colors and dramatic state of nature

That boathouse looks incredible!!

Today I bring you this image of the beautiful temple of Debod in Madrid, it is a wonderful place to contemplate especially in the afternoon, when the sun provokes that almost unreal reflection, it is an ideal place to rest from the bustling center of Madrid. Only the fact of imagining those structures in ancient Egypt already causes complete relaxation. Hope you like..

España 098.jpg

Actually that was on the way for sunset photoshoot to my favorite place on Baltic Sea coast nearby Klaipeda, Lithuania. From the road I have to go trough the forest and this time was just perfect view of sun rays through the trees, that I cant resist and not to make few additional shots.

Just love this kind of lightning

Enjoy it!

The picture was taken at the fortress of Smolensk, the so called Smolensk Kremlin. Was built at the end of 16 th. century on the ground of a wooden fortification, as the city was located on the trading routes between the Vikings and Byzantium. The length of the walls, that was reconstructed few years ago, is about 6 km. Nowadays it is one of the most significant landmarks in the city.

Victory Day 2018 in Kiev.

Kiev lately has lately had a difficult relationship with Victory Day. While May 9th is still the official holiday, some, mostly notably government officials, celebrate on May 8th. It has now, sadly, become a clash of cultures and values.

Hi,
This is my entry for European contest this week
tIMG_0290.jpg
Canal de Midi
Canal de Midi is the best canal in Toulouse, France, also in Europe I think. In 4 seasons here, you will see 4 spectacular different views like 4 different pictures. This photo was taken in Winter, near the New Year time. All the leaves are fallen down. At the sunset, it creates the beautiful picture with mixing color of tree, sun light, flowers, etc. One of the most peaceful place in Europe.

Balliol college Oxford can't seem to imagine how many important debates and discussion would have been at this very spot, with this view in the front. Simply amazing. A peek in history.

Collessium. The death platform of Ancient Rome. It is one of the most popular touristic monument of the world. I have to say that I didn't know to go up and up to reach this place.. I got tired of walking through uphill but when I saw this view, it was worth of it..

The beautiful beach of Miramar is synonymous with tranquility and peace, it is a gift of nature located in Porto, Portugal. It is a tourist destination that can not be missed if you visit the city. In addition, there is the chapel "Senhor da Pedra" built on a rock of this beautiful beach in 1686.

Lavaux, Vignoble en Terrasses

The Lavaux Vineyard Terraces, stretching for about 30 km along the south-facing northern shores of Lake Geneva from the Chateau de Chillon to the eastern outskirts of Lausanne in the Vaud region, cover the lower slopes of the mountainside between the villages and the lake.

Schönbrunn Palace is a beautiful former imperial summer residence, where the Austrian Emperors and their families spent their free time. Nowadays near the palace gardens is located Vienna ZOO.
Ahoj!

Very beautiful. I was at schönbrunn last month and i really enjoyed it. I also took some shots from the top of GlorrietteIMG_0082.jpg

We live in the second biggest city of The Netherlands, Rotterdam. It is always very crowded overthere. From march to the end of august we put our caravan in Zeeland. So every weekend we drive one hour to Zeeland and relax overthere. Beautiful nature, good divingspots and nice beaches with a beautiful sunset. So every weekend looks like holiday. Enjoy life.

This was taken from the start of the trek at the Quiraing in Scotland, where the sky meets the sea. As trek goes on, the scenery changes from this beautiful open view to massive rocks towering over you.

The beautiful medieval town of Erice, on the island of Sicily in Italy. High up in the hills, the town has a commanding view of the surrounding countryside. Supposedly you can see as far as Tunisia on a clear day.

I see that the photo of the boathouse did not miss anything, it seems a postcard a great use of cold colors and composition is simply magnificent would not change anything.

Just perfect.

Brilliant captures sir.
Hats off

I have a question @czechglobalhosts will Turkey as a country be considered in Europe or Asia for the contest?

95% of Turkey is in Asia, but if you are submitting shots from Istanbul, that is where it can get tricky because that city is in both continents. lol. I think Turkey would be a safe bet to say Asia, unless you were in Thrace in the Balkan Peninsula located in Southeast Europe, which you could just state in your description. That would also make the photo a little more interesting as well.

Very good competition Through your competition, many steemit friends will get gifts as an assessment of their work. This will increase the interest of everyone to work.
