Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 200 SBD! Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of Europe.

There is Switzerland which is, I have to admit, really pretty. But than there is the Saxon Switzerland, which is even better ;) Nah, just kidding. It is fairly close though, thus I spent a lot of time in this pretty little area in the east of Germany. This shot was taken about 1h/ 90minutes before Sunrise. Heavy rain the night before provided the foundation for this super cool foggy scenery. An ocean of clouds with only the peaks penetrating the surface. Shot with my Nikon D5300 (Sigma 8-16mm).

Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.
Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

Baiturrahman Great Mosque. Masjid Raya Baiturrahman, is a mosque located in downtown Banda Aceh, Aceh.
The Baiturrahman Grand Mosque is a religious symbol, and a silent witness to the struggle and nationalism of the Acehnese people, And also the Aceh Tsunami Tragedy in 2004 ago, which devastated the land of this Veranda of Mecca.
The mosque is located right in the center of Banda Aceh City and is the pride of the Acehnese People.

Every year in June, Sydney lights up during the Vivid Sydney festival, where visual arts and lights shows covers the many buildings and landmarks around Sydney Harbour. This year, I am especially impressed with the strobe light show at Circular Quay, where rays of blue lights emits from the top of buildings as well as the Harbour Bridge lighting up the sky.

Jellyfish photographed this morning especially for the contest @czechglobalhosts ... !! Well ... not really for the contest "Tuesday of Antartica" I lie... (!). But on the other hand, it is true that this jellyfish came around my boat this morning when I woke up and that I had a pleasure to slide in the water to observe it under all sides. I hope you will like this share !

Starting from Sorrento by ship and after about 1 hour of travel you get to the wonderful island of Capri, the ideal place for a holiday away from the big cities and in contact with the nature, here the tranquility is breathed and the sea is great....

Bavaria is famous for its Oktoberfest. Everybody knows Munich and its beer. Just one hour away is one of Germany's most beautiful Nationalparks. This lake is surrounded by mountains, forest and you can see it all in its perfect reflection. Hence, a hotspot amongst landscape photographers from all over the world. This shot of the "Hintersee" was taken at sunrise. According to the red and orange in the clouds... The wasn't for another 2 hours.

The Golubac Fortress is a medieval fortified town on the south side of the Danube River in East part of Serbia. Fortress was built during the 14th century, and changed a lot of owners. It was a witness of many battles between Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary. It was owned by Turks, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Serbs, and Austrians, until 1867, when it was turned over to Serbia.

Some time ago I was posting the series of photos from old military fortifications of Karosta, Latvia with some nice small houses moving into the sea due natural sea/sand erosion.
Actually the fortification system at this part of Baltic Sea coast was much more developed and just few kilometers to the north there is another part of it called "The Northern Forts"

Puddles in cities usually look not very interesting from above, but photographically they can offer great opportunities to get creative. People often look at me in confusion and don't understand what I'm doing when I place my camera on the floor, right in front of a puddle, but as long as the results look like here, in the Serbian city of Novi Sad, I can live with that 😉

In the city of Ronda (Andalusian region, southern Spain), is located a beautiful Islamic palace, known as Casa del Rey Moro ... In the magical gardens of this small palace, we find stairs which lead us through the underground to the bottom of a canyon. Once there, we come across this amazing scenario, known as La Mina del Rey Moro !

This is a 32 meters height concrete structure. It was built in 1984 and still looks amazing nowadays. Architects were G. Baravykas and V. Vielius. This piece of architecture is located in Europe in city of Kaunas in Lithuania at Ninth fort, which You can easily google. Dont forget to enjoy the view in fullscreen.

Returning back by cable car from Pilatus mountain and witness this stunning view of Kriens. Taking a cable car is definitely the best way to enjoy the stunning view of Switzerland. It provides a high altitude angle to capture beautiful photos.

In a few special places in the UK there are river plains that flood in the winter that are home to large numbers of snakes head fritillarys. If you vitit them in late April you are likely to see an amazing display such as these flowers I photographed in Fox Fritillary Medown in Suffolk. Sights such as these where once common in the UK. Now sadly they are rare as most of the suitable land has been "improved" for agricultural use.

Douro Valley in Porto, Portugal
The Douro is one of the major rivers of the Iberian Peninsula, flowing from its source near Duruelo de la Sierra in Soria Province across northern-central Spain and Portugal to its outlet at Porto.
Douro Valley is one of the largest area for grape farming to make wine. The taste of Douro Wine is so delicious and special.

With the FIFA world cup taking place in Russia, it is only fitting to submit a photo of one of the most iconic sights in Moscow, the domes of St Basil's Cathedral, aka the Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed, aka the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat, aka Pokrovsky Cathedral. The Cafe Moscow was built from 1961 - 1964 by the Architects Josef Kaiser and Horst Bauer as an restaurant with almost 600 seats. At the opening, the ambassador of the UDSSR give the Owner the so called Sputnik as a gift. The Sputnik is till today assembled on the top of the Facade at the Entrance.

Photo of a colonnade in Valladolid, Spain. This city of Castile, it is very related of the history of Spain. During the rule of the Queen Isabel of Castle and Fernando of Aragon was the residence of the kings. Later in the XVI century under the rule of Felipe II, was the capital of Spain.
This type of arched colonnades is very typical of the historical part of the city and they are quite common in Castile.

I do really have to agree that timing is one of the most important thing in photography .While in this case so is explained .The clouds and the only surface that cam out in top did made the image much more stunning and was indeed worth it.
While the other entries as well have their own beauty .Liked them very much.
