Hello fellow Steemians!

Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - North American Friday - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 200 SBD! Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of North America.

See the winner of the last week´s North American Friday @crazy-andy with the following entry:

On the photo below you can see one of many amazing USA State Parks. This one is located in Utah and I have visited it on my first trip to USA in 2014. There is a funny anecdote from this year’s Utah visit, when we also planned to visit it, but then we realized just few miles before the park, that we don’t have enough fuel and turn around. We came back to Moab’s gas station with fuel for only 4 miles left. So it was a smart decision at the end.

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.

Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Australian Monday week #37 - winner announcement!

@mibreit-photo Australian Monday entry:

When I was travelling through Australia I spent two days on the Great Ocean Road. The weather was quite grey and I didn't get good light for the first day and a half. And also the last evening didn't look different. I still went down to the Gibson Steps and waited. This light was the reward.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #37 - winner announcement!

@davedavis91 European Thursday entry:

European?! Well let's see what I have. I took this shot about a year ago in Saxony, Germany, very close to the Czech Border. A well hidden treasure that got famous through RedBull and Instagram. A park in which a half round Bridge forms a perfect circle in its own reflection. Surrounded by Trees and abstract rock formations. Magical place. The autumn colors round it up to a perfect frame!

Known as Iglesia de Santiago Apostol in Spanish, this picturesque church is located on a small secluded square in Barrio de Santiago, a neighborhood in Merida, the largest city of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. The church was finished in 1637 and it is mostly famous for the beautiful belfry.

Nice. I love that white wash render look.

Thank you so much for your participation with this wonderful entry.

Majestic

The contrasting clouds create a nice degree of depth in this image along with superb lighting. Cathedral Rock is looking just marvelous as it brings peace, joy and wonderment to my spirit. I see this as nature giving us a visual treat to calm our busy minds. Sedona Arizona USA.

Amazing light !

Fantastic as always!

AthabascaFallsCanyon.jpg

It's not often you get a sense of stillness at Athabasca falls. This shot was taken last spring looking through the canyon downstream of the falls. The shoulder seasons are nice in places like Athabasca so one can experience them without the crowds. People fall into this canyon almost every year and most don't live to tell the tale. What a tremendous place and beautiful image!

Thanks. Appreciate your kind support with the competition !

Photo of the famous Moraine Lake at the Valley of Ten Peaks located at Banff National Park, in Alberta, Canada. This National Park is very nice for its wonderful landscapes and wild life. This photo was taken in the month of June, and you can observed that there is a lot of snow and ice.

Nice. I am still to get to Moraine lake. This summer !

That looks pretty cold for June:)

Grand Canyon North Rim (Toroweap Overlook)
Most people just visiting the Grand Canyon Village, which is very crowded and offers some quiet nice views of the Canyon. But if you want to experience a real jaw-dropping moment, you have to go to the North Rim.
Here you can read how to get there.

Thank you so much for this wonderful entry. Tomas

So red. Even the water looks the same colour of the cliffs.

A classic view if you happen to be right in the heart of Manhattan and you look up to the sky... between other buildings stands the highest!

Here is the Empire State Building viewed through a gap between these smaller buildings :)

Love NYC

It is a great city :)

Majestic!

Isn't it! The most legendary building of Manhattan.

New York is called by many nicknames. Its “city that never sleeps”, “concrete jungle where dreams are made of”, but probably most known nickname is “The Big Apple”. There are several theories where this nickname came from, but the most likely version is from the sports writer John J. Fitz Gerald, who wrote for The Morning Telegraph and who was first who called New York “The Big Apple” in 1920.
Ahoj!

NYC 9 02

It's such an amazing city.

Thanks ever so much for your wonderful entry. Have a great day. Tomas

This is a picture I took a couple of days ago in BC, Canada. It was somewhere along the Wetlands on the way from Golden to Fernie. I had seen these never ending trains a couple of times and I told my girlfriend that I would absolution love to get a good shot of one, so I made it my mission to find the best spot possible and I am super happy with the outcome!

How amazing is BC!

Thank you so much for your contribution. Have a great day. Tomas

Cenote Zaci in Valladolid, Mexico

In Yucatan, Cenotes are everywhere, even directly in the city center of Valladolid! This cenote is located in an open cave. Its cool waters are a favorite swimming spot of locals and tourists alike.

I have also posted this photo on my blog.

Awesome. This looks like such a great place to cool off after a long day of hiking.

This looks like an amazing spot to explore.

It was amazing! Thanks for your comment!

Wonderful place and awesome image!

wwest180526_Civil_War_Trip-105.jpg

This is the McLean House in Appomattox, VA. This is where the Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant in 1865, essentially ending the Civil War.

Many people think that the surrender was done at the courthouse, which is just a short walk up the road, but it was done in the first room to the left as you enter the home, with Lee on the left side of the room and Grant on the right.

Nice. Looks like it has been kept in the original state.

Love the mood of your image.

Thank you Tomas

Time to go for a climb
Screen Shot 2018-06-08 at 8.21.50 am.png

Got to get up early as the days are short this time of year. Here in the Sierra Nevada of California, getting up early for a climb also helps you stay of of harm's way from the potential for afternoon showers. The alpine glow on the rocks makes it a bit more appealing as only a few minutes before it was very very cold. Time to go climb some of the worlds best granite!

Looks cold!

It was! But full sun a couple of hours after this cut the cold a bit...

The Rose Festival is going on in Portland, Oregon right now and the highlight is definitely Fleet Week when ships from the US Navy, Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Navy float up the Willamette River and dock downtown for a few days.

oregon_portland_fleet_week_ships_downtown_elevated_closer_editorial_reduced1.jpg

Wow they are some very cool ships!

Last year they brought in a stealth destroyer that is almost invisible to radar. That one was really cool to see.

Agree must have been cool to see.

Mauna Kea, Big Island, Hawaii
Mauna kea is the highest peak on the Big Island. It is 4,207 m (13,802 ft) above sea level but measured from its base together with the underwater part, it is over over 10,000 m (33,000 ft) tall and is the tallest mountain on Earth. Thanks to its high elevation, dry environment and stable weather conditions, Mauna Kea's summit is one of the best sites in the world for astronomical observations. Since the creation of an access road in 1964, thirteen telescopes funded by eleven countries have been constructed at the summit.

Cool photo @libork, but this photo is not in a part of the world that is in North America (it is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean). Perhaps resubmit this awesome photo on they day he hosts the oceans contest?

Yep, you are right.
But I was not sure myself where to put my pictures from Hawaii and I asked @czechglobalhosts, the organizer. His answer was North America - see the exchange here: https://steemit.com/travel/@libork/re-czechglobalhosts-7-world-s-continents-photo-challenge-tuesday-of-antarctica-and-world-s-oceans-week-33-the-absolute-winner-takes-200-sbd-20180508t090833378z

I guess that this is what matters here...

Ok cool! Their contest, their rules... but thanks for this feedback and good to know you heard it straight from @czechglobalhosts!

PS. Cool video, leaves some important questions. I'll repost this link here for others to enjoy...

It (Hawaii) is in the middle of the Pacific plate, so I vote for Oceania or Pacific Plate. Hahaha which are not options...

PSS. Nevertheless your photo is awesome and needs a home and would love to visit that place sometime way up high above the Pacific...

This is an amazing shot. It is hard to grasp the scale of the photo unless you view it full screen and you see that tiny dot on the road that is a vehicle.

Thanks a lot, Wes.

Love it up there. Have not been for a long time.

Photo is from this year’s trip to USA. One of the national parks we visited was Arches NP and it offers many things to do and see. You can hike there several days to see everything. Usually everyone are photographing and sharing most famous thing from this park, which is Delicate Arch, but today I am sharing with you beautiful natural Windows.

Nice shot. That park is just a few hours south of my home. I really need to make my way down there and visit it.

Thanks mate!
Yes you better do it :) I am 15 hours by plane from there, but it really is worth visiting it...

Such interesting formations.

Nature is the best artist :)
And congratulations for your winning photo! Totally deserved it :)

Thanks!

Savannah Icy Winter Dream - We woke up one morning during our For 91 Days in Savannah and the temps dropped below zero. Not thinking of much we walked by the Forsyth Park Fountain and saw this! A winter dream come true.

Savannah-Winter-2010.jpg

Love Savannah!!! In Kansas City they have fountains everywhere, I love it when they freeze and make their own ice sculptures, very nice picture.

I was never thinking of frozen fountains before - at least from where I'm from they turn off the fountains. But that cold front came as a surprise.

So Frosty!

And still functional - That's the craziest to me.

With almost 1,900km, Yonge Street is officially the longest road in the world and is even in the Guinness Book of Records. It begins in Toronto, directly on the shores of Lake Ontario and ends in northern Ontario. Besides its incredible length, Yonge Street is also the most central and important street in downtown Toronto. It is well visited at any time of the day or night, especially at the intersection with Dundas Street, where this photo was taken. I particularly liked the atmosphere at dusk there and tried to capture it photographically.

The light in this is just perfect.

Thanks a lot!
