See the winner of the last week´s North American Friday @phortun with the following entry:

Located just outside of the small village of Piste in the north-central part of the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, the Ik Kil Cenote ranks among the most beautiful and visited cenotes in the area. The cenote measures approximately 60 m (200 ft) in diameter and it is up to 40 m (130 ft) deep. The water surface is 26 m (85 ft) below the ground level of the surrounding landscape. A staircase was carved into the walls so that the visitors can get down to the water and enjoy some nice swim and snorkel.

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.

Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Asian Sunday week #86 - winner announcement!

@travelshots Asian Sunday entry:

"Thu Thiem Bridge" offers probably the best view of the city center of Saigon with the Saigon River in the foreground. Here you can admire beautiful sunsets as the sun disappears just behind the skyline. After dark the skyscrapers are reflected in the water, which can be used for impressive long exposures.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #86 – winner announcement!

@fotogruppemunich Australian Monday entry:

Since we spent a long time near Sydney, it was also possible for me to photograph the Opera House at night. There was no extra light show on this evening unfortunately. Nevertheless it was an experience for me to be at this place in the night.

@vinceboisgard Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Last bit of land before the open waters. On the Northern Ireland coast, the storm is forming in a far distance and will soon hit the land. I stand on top of a cliff looking at these clouds building up thinking how quickly can the weather change. Location: Northern Ireland.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - African Wednesday week #86 - winner announcement!

@vcclothing African Wednesday entry:

The view from Table Mountain looking down on lions head mountain and out to the Atlantic ocean is an amazing sight to see when you are in Cape Town South Africa. Just remember to Bing a jacket with you if you visit in the afternoon, as the winds change very quickly and it gets cold fast.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - European Thursday week #86 - winner announcement!

@mrprofessor European Thursday entry:

Port of Koper - Slovenia. After days of cycling on the snow in Europe, finally the sun showed up on the horizon of the Adriatic sea. Nothing like contemplating the golden hour while seeing the boats disappear on the distance.

Peaceful golden hour over Playa Negra, a beautiful remote beach stretching for miles outside of the little coastal town of Puerto Viejo in Costa Rica. You can see a few fishermen in the background but no tourists. These are the getaways I like the most :)

On the windy northern shore of the peninsula, sleepy Río Lagartos (Alligator River) is a fishing village that also boasts the densest concentration of flamingos in Mexico, supposedly two or three flamingos per Mexican.

Instead of the usual light beam from the top at mid day I had to create my own light beam at Antelope Canyon. Mid day tour was full 😁
So I pointed the big flashlight through the opening of the arch.

Who knows which side it is. Upper or lower? I give a hint: V or A

This photo was taken in Canmore Alberta. The mountains are unpredictable and on our arrival, everything was engulfed in a thick fog with just a few peaks poking out of the clouds. We were on our way to Banff but had to stop to get a quick foto.

This is on the Oregon Coast near Depoe Bay. It is a little area called Whale Cove. I took this on a beautiful 80 degree F day in August. The beach is a perfect place to go when the inland begins to heat up. :)

Springtime Fantasy
Reflected by colorful clouds at sunset. Evening light is cast across a meadow of spring wildflowers, showing off a wonderful tonal luminosity, and creating this fantasy like effect. The current wildflower bloom is the best in many many years! This image was captured on 5-2-2019 in Sedona Arizona USA.

For this week's contest I selected this photo from the sunset in Death Valley, California. The photo was taken at Badwater Basin, which is the lowest point in USA.
The temperature was hot hot hot, 54°C (129 F) and this around 7pm.
Getting out of the car felt like getting into an oven. A surreal experience, walking on the salty surface, scorching heat and the sunset

We found this green sea turtle cruising through the shallows of Maui's coral reefs. Last year, Hawaii became the first US state to ban certain sunscreens that contain chemicals known to accelerate coral bleaching.

The Wynn is a luxury hotel and casino located in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the famous Las Vegas Strip. The Wynn is one of the most luxurious Las Vegas casinos and is one of the tallest buildings in Las Vegas because with its 187 meters high and 45 floors. Here, we can admire the entrance of the theater that I find very pretty.
