7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #21 – winner announcement!

@kcaj88 Asian Sunday entry:

This is a photo that I took in Xinjiang, China. That's a Euphrates Poplar Forest which is about 6000 years old. Euphrates Poplar can live up to 3000 years old and even though the trees are dead, they can still stand for another 3000 years. I think they are tough and strong there for I took that pic.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #21 – winner announcement!

@stabilowl Australian Monday entry:

It was early evening and I was walking along the coastline at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney with my camera and tripod looking for something to shoot. I was almost at the end the the trail, close to Mrs Macquarie's Chair, when I was treated with this beautiful skyline of the City of Sydney, with all the colours reflecting on the water. I spend quite a bit of time there, perfecting my shots. And here is the best one.

@axeman Tuesday of Antarctica and world´s oceans entry:

To continue the series of frozen Baltic Sea coastline, here is quite a special and minimalist shot of the stone completely frozen into the ice. Stunning colors of very very cold winter sunset, cause by still very high humidity of the air and unique singh-ray color polarizing filter mounted. Totally phantasmagorical view. Enjoy it!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #21 – winner announcement!

@photofreediver African Wednesday entry:

Synchronized swimming. Not everyone knows that near the island of Mauritius, large herds of sperm whales live and grow their progeny. When we found out about this, we decided to fly there to check whether this is true. Our dream was at least to see these magnificent animals. Who could have known then that we not only managed to see the sperm whales, but swim with them and even practice synchronized swimming.

This is Fanad Lighthouse in Donegal, the northernmost part of Ireland. I went there early in the morning to catch the sunrise and was rewarded with this wonderful light. It's quite a beautiful setting for a lighthouse. If you ever visit Donegal, make sure to pay this spot a visit.

I took this photo in Spring 2015 when I visited Rio de Janeiro. If you look closely at the top of the mountain you know exactly where I was headed. Many cities have iconic features that make them instantly recognizable, and for Rio, that is Christ the Redeemer. This statue was built throughout the 1920's and has grown into such a cultural icon it was listed as a new Wonder of the World. While the view from the statue is incredible, as you can see, the view on the way up is pretty spectacular too!

Great shot Matt! Thank you so much for your submission. Tomas

One of the most stunning roadtrips I have ever made was the Ruta 23 in north Chile. This beautiful road is about 310km long and leads up to an altitude of 4580m and finally over the mountain pass "Paso Sico" to Argentina. It is a great experience to drive through the desert alongside of salt lakes and volcanoes...

for a minute I thought this was California. I have to go to Chile now. Thanks :)

Your photos from Ruta 23 have been amazing. I didn’t see vicuñas there but lots of donkeys on the way. ;)

I like how you captured the light. It is not easy trying to fit the whole panoramic scene into one frame. The lighting stands out in this one.

I bet it was a great trip!

Yes, it was the most impressive road trip of my life ;)

This photo was taken on a hike to Argentine Patagonia's most famous lake, Laguna de Los Tres. You are able to see some of the most famous Argentine landmarks, among others the three snow-capped peaks of Mount Fitz Roy, Aguja Poincenot and Cerro Torre. It’s also the starting point for attempts on one of the world’s most challenging ascents, to Mount Fitz Roy. A visually great hike!

mamos-1-of-8_4189714492_o.jpg

I had the rare opportunity to shoot a medicine man from the Sierra mountains of Colombia. The group of indigenous is called the Los Mamos and they don't allow anyone to photograph them. But I had spent some time with the family and they did allow me to take pictures after performing a type of ritual that would cleanse me of evil spirits. It was a mild trip to say the least.

Beautiful. I like the mysterious feel in this piece. What an unique experience and a precious photo! =)

That does look pretty mysterious! I am glad you have managed to take the image!

Cotopaxi is an active volcano found in the Cotopaxi Province of Ecuador. It has an elevation of 5897 meters above sea level and one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. Its last great eruption dates back to June 26, 1887.

Thank you very much, it is a wonderful place.

Iguazú, Misiones, argentina.,m.jpg

This photo shows the "Iguazu Falls", located in the Iguazú National Park in the north of the province of Misiones, Argentina. In the Guaraní language, the term "Iguazú" is translated as "great waters". These majestic waterfalls are consecrated as one of the 7 natural wonders in the world, for such beauty that it has, are waterfalls that reach up to 80 meters high, totally awesome. In South America this is one of the best natural experiences you can get.

This is the epic view by Río Cañuma, close to Juliaca and Puno in Peru, on the way from Arequipa. It was freezing cold high up at about 4300 meters even when I was there in summer time, but this breathtaking(literally too) scenery just held me spellbound.

Great image, the place looks amazing! Great job.

I took this picture from the upper deck of a bus travelling from El Chalten to Los Antiguos, in Argentina. It was early morning and the light was great. I just loved seating on the front seats and enjoying the view from up there. The scenery is simply wonderful in this part of the world.

Yep, the scenery looks amazing! I want to go there:)....

I snapped this photo of the Andes mountain range whilst I was in Santiago Chile visiting friends. For me it was so awesome to see snow capped mountains :) I live in Brisbane Australia and it has never snowed here and to finally see snow from a distance was so good !

I can imagine how exciting it is as I do get visitors from time to time that has never seen snow in a life! Must be so cool to experience that.

it was very cool :)

It is said that the happiest people on the planet live in Costa Rica. When I arrived there, I did not believe this statement. But day by day, I realized more and more that for real happiness there is much that is not needed. It is enough to live on the shore of a warm ocean, to eat plain food and every day see these sunsets, holding the hand of your beloved woman. I do not know how other people are, but I was exactly happy in Costa Rica!

I have to head to Costa Rica:)....

Viñales Valley is located in the Sierra de los Organos mountains in Cuba. It is a major tourist destination offering mainly hiking and rock climbing. The scenery of the region is spectacular and absolutely breathtaking.

Hi! Today I would like to share with you my photo wich was taken at Itaipu Dam hydroelectric power plant.

This hydroelectric dam on the Paraná River located on the border between Brazil and Paraguay 20 km from Foz do Iguaçu. This power plant supplies electricity Paraguay and Brazil(even the SanPaulo/Rio de Janeiro region).

The beautiful beaches of Rio de Janeiro are an emblem of the South American paradise, with its beautiful contrasts between mountains and an imposing metropolis make it one of the most recognized tourist destinations in the world.

iquique.jpg

Greetings to the whole community this photo is from chile, Specifically "Iquique" the photo is not from a helicopter, a plane ... not any of those options, it is taken from a paraglider, the best way to show them this city was from the height, This photo is about Av Arturo Prat-Iquique

This photo was taken on the Isla de Margarita, located in the Caribbean Sea. It is one of the most important beaches of Venezuela, due to its tourist activity, its beauty and its importance in the world of surfing. The name of this beach is "Parguito".

Here is my entry for South American Challenge.
Cape Horn Fl1.jpg
Panoramic view of legendary Cape Horn, Tierra Del Fuego, Chile. It is the southernmost tip of South America and place where Pacific and Atlantic oceans meet. Panorama stitched from 9 horizontal images.

Beautiful view from the Punta Ballena Lighthouse located in the city of Pampatar on the Isla de Margarita. This lighthouse was created in 2007 with the purpose of safeguarding the maritime security of the area but for its great landscape it is also known at a tourist level; It is very visited daily by those who are on vacation in this beautiful island as well as by the lovers since it is a very romantic place ..

I woke up very early in the morning. The plan was to see the sunrise on top of the sugarloaf mountain (portuguese: Pão de Açúcar), in Rio de Janeiro. arriving there i knew it was too cloudy to see the sun rising. first i was dissappointed but then i realized how mystic the atmosphere was up there, experiencing the clouds wreathe the sugarloaf mountain and pass by.

The Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is the world's largest salt flat. I had planned an expedition to South America between high school and university, and was planning to follow Che Guevara's route, but took a detour to check these out!
This photo was taken just before digital cameras.

This is a photo that I took in Assam, India, during floods.
Assam is the biggest state in the northeastern region of India, Assam, is ravaged by floods. It displaces thousands and damages property worth billions.
the actual place in this picture is the side of Brahmaputra, a trans-boundary river and among the mightiest rivers in Asia, is braided and unstable in its entire reach in Assam except for a few places.

@czechglobalhosts I think this very coool

This photo was taken in January 2018 at the La Plata train station. What's interesting about this photo is that prices in the foreground are from years ago, and that stall has since been out of business. Argentina's inflation captured in one frame.

Your Posts are golden.

Yeah. I think writing down might have its advantages as well as disadvantages too.

When writing, you might not really get to pit down everything in the head.
But then in a video or an audio, u can get to say everything that comes to the mind.
But currently, I do more of writing cuz I'm not all that pretty to appear on a video. Lol.

Thanks for sharing
