7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Asian Sunday week #28 – winner announcement!

@funtraveller Asian Sunday entry:

Hello @czechglobalhosts! This is the view of Marina Bay area in Singapore, a photo that I took while there's an incoming storm / heavy rain along my way. It's an uncommon scene and this serves as my entry to the Asian Sunday photo challenge.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Australian Monday week #28 – winner announcement!

@benfenson Australian Monday entry:

This is Kiama lighthouse on the NSW, Southcoast, taken during a violent thunderstorm at the start of this years storm season. My partner and i had originally walked out to the tip of the headland to photograph the storm coming in from the West but the storm was moving so quickly that by the time we had setup, bolts of lightning were exploding all around us prompting us to head for cover. Just before making it back to the car the wind and rain hit luckily my camera gear stayed dry!.... I didn't ;)

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans week #28 – winner announcement!

@axeman Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

Sunset Baltic Sea coast, nearby Klaipeda, Lithuania. A big stone as center of a composition and long exposure to freeze the movement of the wave. The most difficult part is actually to stay with dry shoes :) Every time sea just tries to catch me, but have enough experience so far to predict bigger waves. Enjoy it!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #28 – winner announcement!

@photofreediver African Wednesday entry:

I have no doubt that Sudan is one of the best places in the World for diving. Always warm Red Sea, an abundance of colorful corals and tropical fish make every dive striking and unforgettable. It's a place where every instant of water under water you want to leave in your memory and on the photographers, of course!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – European Thursday week #28 – winner announcement!

@softa European Thursday entry:

Prague, Charles bridge. Charles bridge is one of the most visited monuments in Prague. One day when I set off to take pictures of the city center I noticed that the waterworks beneath the bridge are in the lower position. So I headed to the bridge where they were to see stones on the waterfront, which is not commonly seen.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – North American Friday week #28 – winner announcement!

@shadalene North American Friday entry:

Sunrise clouds over the Rocky Mountains. Waking up early for sunrise photography was a new experience for me during this trip, but one that left me with no doubt that I would do it all over again. The light is simply magic, turning the landscape into something like out of a fairytale. Location: Rocky Mountains National Park.

Cartagena is probably most well known for its historic walled city, but being a port city in northern Colombia along the Caribbean coast, the city also has plenty of beautiful beaches. I took this photo after walking out of my hotel that lead directly to the beach. In the background of the photo, you can see the modern downtown Cartagena not far away. This city has so much to offer that I feel like I need another trip there to see more!

It's definitely the most beautiful city in South America.

The Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso is located in the Paseo del Prado in Havana, Cuba. The theatre has been home to the Cuban National Ballet. Absolutely amazing and definitely worth a visit.

Thank you so much for your wonderful entry!

After seeing some really amazing wildlife photos in the African Wednesday, I decided to come up with one of my favorite animal shots too. I took this close-up of this huge purple tropical grasshopper in Costa Rica. I had never seen anything like this before but I got used to having these guys around me soon as they really were just everywhere! :)

That thing looks massive! You could take that home as a pet. Amazing detail in the shot.

Thanks! Yeah, it was pretty big, some 10 cm (4 in) long.

That is disgusting. I would probably run away from it.

Wow, that thing is gigantic! I would probably run away too, lol....

This reminds me of your picture of the giant worm(s). You are really brave! =)

You mean these? :D

IMG_20170810_132227.jpg

Yes! 😱

The rise of Huayna was just fantastic !! A little slippery, narrow but beautiful once arrived at the top, you must be well equipped before climbing this mountain. People who have Vertigo must abstain.
The mist is Machu pichu Ke once arrived at the top, the show was perfect !!!

Wayna Picchu Mountain-Peru

What a wonderful entry that is!

Since I have already seen stunning photos here taken from the Sugarloaf in Rio de Janeiro, I'm sharing a picture from another mountain top, the Corcovado where Christ the Redeemer is. Despite the crowds, seeing this giant master piece is still worth checking off the bucket list. After reaching the hilltop by cog train, this was the captivating view I captured from a lookout near the Jesus statue.

Beautiful image..

Thanks @jlgc! I just noticed your cool Jesus photo from the same place! :D

This is fantastic. Such wonderful colors.

Thanks Wes! =)

That sure is an amazing shot! Thank you so much for sharing! Tomas

The Perito Moreno glacier is around 74 meters high on average measured from the surface of the water of Lago Argentino and about 5 km long at the terminus, so you can better imagine the magnitude of the glacier on this picture.

This is a picture taken of the glacier not long before we put our crampons on, we were about to start a trek on the glacier.

What a great entry! Thank you so much for sharing with everyone. Tomas

Fitz Roy in El Chaltén, Argentina
fitzroy (2).jpg
Fitz Roy was once called Chaltén, in Tehuelche means "smoking mountain", as the original people from that region believed the mountain or peak was a volcano due to it's top being always covered by clouds. It's rare to see it like that.

That looks really spectacular! Thank you so much for your participation. Tomas

And thank you for hosting an amazing contest!

This is from the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquira, Colombia. It is a massive underground church in what is still a functioning salt mine. Not only is it huge and beautiful, but you can lick any surface and it all tastes like salt! Definitely worth a day trip if you are ever in Bogota.

I love that blue color! Thank you so much for your participation. Tomas

This is one of the views that you can contemplate if you approach the Bay of Juan Griego in the evening hours. The sunsets of Juan Griego are recognized as the most beautiful in all of Venezuela. This is a place visited by travelers, precisely because of the sunsets.

Hmm, those colors are just splendid! Love it!

This is my image today. The Christ the Redeemer is a huge 30.1 meter statue of Jesus of Nazareth with open arms showing the city of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. It is located at 710 meters above sea level in the Tijuca National Park, at the top of the Corcovado hill. Considered the largest Art Deco statue in the world, it is recognized as one of the new seven wonders of the modern world. El Cristo del Corcovado is one of the most important tourist attractions in Brazil.

Splenid shot! Thank you so much for your continued contribution. Tomas

This beautiful Venezuelan backwater can be found in the town of "San Antonio del Golfo" located in the state of Sucre in the eastern Venezuelan. Founded in 1691, this town receives its name in honor of the saint "Antonio de Padua" and "del Golfo" for its location in front of the "Golfo de Cariaco".

That looks just peaceful! Thank you so much for sharing. Tomas

The San Carlos de Borromeo Castle is located in front of the Pampatar bay on the island of Margarita, it is a classic example of the military architecture of the time, with the plant in a grid form and an observation booth in each of the corners. This design is very characteristic of the military constructions of the time that were made in the coast of Venezuela.

The photograph that I show to you next I took it in the "Coche" island, Venezuela. This beautiful sunset I could see on the beach of Guinima. Guinima is a town on this famous island that calls many tourists, also the inhabitants of the neighboring island: Margarita.

South America has amazing places to visit, specially Roraima, Venezuela. Breathtaking landscapes. You have to come @czechglobalhosts. :)
