Welcome to my 7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Tuesday of Antarctica and world´s oceans - where the winner of the weekly round will be able to participate for the total of 200 SBD! Today, you can participate by submitting your personal pictures from your travels to the continent of Antarctica. I am also adding world´s oceans to the same challenge to allow more Steemians to compete in this contest.

Your entries need to be submitted by 8 AM Central European Time in order to be considered for the challenge with a description of approximately 30 to 50 words. Only use of personal images will be accepted and only one picture can be submitted for a daily photo challenge. Ten winning photos will receive a bigger upvote from me and ten runners-up will get a smaller one.
Chosen from the ten winning entries, the absolute winner of the day will receive extended publicity in my post tomorrow morning. I will also visit his/her blog to upvote one of the most recent posts. The winning picture of the daily challenge will then automatically enter other rounds with the absolute winner gaining approximately 200 SBD in total.

This is a photo that I took in Xinjiang, China. That's a Euphrates Poplar Forest which is about 6000 years old. Euphrates Poplar can live up to 3000 years old and even though the trees are dead, they can still stand for another 3000 years. I think they are tough and strong there for I took that pic.

It was early evening and I was walking along the coastline at the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney with my camera and tripod looking for something to shoot. I was almost at the end the the trail, close to Mrs Macquarie's Chair, when I was treated with this beautiful skyline of the City of Sydney, with all the colours reflecting on the water. I spend quite a bit of time there, perfecting my shots. And here is the best one.

This is another shot from my Christmas Day visit to Hermosa Pier just south of Los Angeles. I took photos from an hour or two before the sunset until darkness. While I love the darker orange as the sun set, the bright golden yellow really shows the beauty of this beach.

To continue the series of frozen Baltic Sea coastline, here is quite a special and minimalist shot of the stone completely frozen into the ice. Stunning colors of very very cold winter sunset, cause by still very high humidity of the air and unique singh-ray color polarizing filter mounted.

Red dragon over the icy mountain
Last week, at the same stage of this wonderful contest, I showed you how the Greenland icebergs look underwater. Yes, it certainly is a spectacular spectacle and even a little alien. But under the water there is absolutely no color. And everything looks a bit grim. So I decided this week to share one of my pictures with the top of the ice giant in the bright glow of the Greenland's sunset.

I clicked this shot at Punta Arenas, the capital city of Chile's southernmost region - Magallanes and Antartica Chilena. Together with Ushuaia in Argentina and Christchurch in New Zealand, Punta Arenas is a common starting point for Antarctic expeditions. I didn't expect a splendid sunset like this in such a cold windy place. =)

Usually a day on the boat in search of a whale takes about 10 hours. During this time in the water can be 30-50 minutes on average. The rest depends heavily on the behavior of whales and the weather. When the whales move, you spend only a few minutes in the water at one time. All this time you are actively rowing by your fins. If the whales are standing still, that is, the opportunity to swim nearby for 20-30 minutes.

This is sunset from Indian Ocean and Thai Island Koh-Phi. I came to this point day after day but all sunsets was different. I try to shot images with simular compostions and one idea, but can't. Because this place was completely different on different days although, it was the same place.

The lighthouse at Peggy's Cove warns ships away from the rocky Nova Scotia shore. I like to look for reflections when I'm at a lighthouse like this - there are often depressions in the rocks that hold sea water and keep it still.

Red morning on Ponta da Piedade
Ponta da Piedade is a very popular viewpoint in Algarve. I was scouting this place a day before this shot, and it was crowded even though December is offseason. When I woke up in the morning, it was raining, and clouds covered the sky. I had to drive 30 km one way to get to Ponta da Piedade, so it was a kinda hard decision to get off a warm bed and move to the unknown in not very exciting weather conditions. However, I jumped in my car and headed to Lagos. Soon I was regretting my long hesitations because the light started to appear and it was beautiful! Happily, I was at the site just in time to find the other 5 or 6 fellow photographers on the best places )) Anyway, there was still enough place for me.

The Cook Islands is a tropical paradise in the middle of the pacific. The main island, Rarotonga, is a small island surrounded by turquoise water and white beaches. It is the perfect place for honeymoon. We went there for ours and it was so idyllic. Just strolling on the beach we were treated with beautiful scenery like this.

We have winter in Slovenia for almost 3 months now and I am missing summer time. I would love to repeat my last year’s holidays to Seychelles. Beaches there are simply fantastic. Photo below is from most famous beach on island La Digue, named Anse Source D'Argent.

This is the Atlantic Ocean near Tenerife, the largest and most populated island of the seven Canary Islands. The island belongs to Macaronesia, a collection of four archipelagos in the North Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the continents of Europe and Africa. The coasts of Tenerife are typically rugged and steep, particularly on the north of the island. This gives a nice contrast with the tranquil ocean.

I watched this sunset on a summer day in the Seven Sisters cliffs in Eastbourne. The small building in the bottom right of the picture used to be a lighthouse, called The Belle Tout. It was partially destroyed in the WWII. It was rebuild in the 50's. Then it had to be moved because the erosion of the cliffs were getting too close to it. And now there is a new lighthouse in the area and this one became a hotel, of just one room. It must be great to stay there and have this sea view.

The Balearic Sea was really warm for a nice swim, except all the jellyfishes it was nearly perfect. Even though I got the sunburn of my life on this day, I'm pretty sure, that I will visit Barcelona again. :)

I haven't been to Antarctica yet, but when I went to Crescent City, California this summer to see the Pacific Ocean, it felt cold enough to be in the arctic. The city was surrounded by fog so the beach had a thick layer of fog that went up into the forest and it added a surreal feeling to the whole experience, and once you got out of the city, the fog lifted and it was a beautiful blue sky.

This is the famous Bondai Beach with the ocean pool. As you can see it's directly located next to the ocean where every surfer tries to conquer it's beautiful waves. That same ocean fills the pool and gives swimming in lane 1 an extra dimension.

If you climb 132 steps to top of the historic Celarain lighthouse in Cozumel you will see this breathtaking view! On a clear day, you can see all of Cozumel and even Playa Del Carmen in the distance. Steps are worth it!

Papakolea Beach is one of 4 beaches with green sand in the world. You would need to hike down some rocks to get down to the beach but once you are there, you will be amazed how green the sand actually looked. Definately a memorable place I've visited in recent years

Tarifa is called the city of two seas, on one side there is Mediterranean sea and on the other Atlantic ocean. When there is wind from the west then the Mediterranean is calm and vice versa. So while it's still winter time in here, this guy is having a casual swim in the Mediterranean sea.

This is a photo I took this last December while walking around Canon Beach off the Oregon Coast. The beach was freezing as it was raining most of the day and the water too cold to touch but got lucky enough to see a couple beautiful bald eagles flying around just off the coast.

On one side Atlantic Ocean and on another one Pacific Ocean. That is Panama Canal, 77 km waterway. This picture was taken onboard Carnival Freedom on a special journey cruise. It takes around 4 hours just to pass the locks. It was an amazing experience to watch, how they open the locks one by one.
