My trip to South Moravia, part 2!

Hello friends,

Today I would like to introduce you to South Moravian region of Valtice which is only a short ride from Chateau Lednice that I posted about yesterday. Once again this truly is an amazing place to visit and if you do have couple of extra days to spent in the Czech Republic then I would place it on the top of your list. Even though Chateau Lednice from my post yesterday is absolutely charming somehow I do prefer Chateau Valtice since it is not that touristy as it is not listed on Unesco World Heritage list.

Chateau Valtice is part of the Lednice-Valtice Complex and is known as the capital city of wine. The jewel in the crown of Valtice is its massive Baroque chateau, the former residence of the Lichtenstein family. Situated in the center of a traditional wine region, the chateau was built in stages by thirteen princes and in the 18th century the residence, with its furnishings, collections and rich inventory competed with Imperial court in Vienna itself. Besides the Chateau itself you will also enjoy a walk through the vast chateau grounds, containing the remains of a Baroque theatre and wine cellars dating back centuries and a herb garden.
