Welcome to my Travel Tip edition where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
Today, I would like to show you something special as I will take you to the largest and most popular fun fair held in the country, the St. Matthew´s Fair.

Organized annually (usually from February to April) at the Prague Exhibition Grounds in Prague-Holesovice, the St. Matthew´s Fair (Matejska Pout in the Czech language) is one of the oldest and most traditional fairs in Europe with its origin dating back to 1595.
The fair used to be rather religious event in the past, closely related to the feasts of St. Matthew, but it gradually turned into a massively attended fun fair, with hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
These days, the St. Matthew´s Fair is all about having fun. There are usually between 100 to 150 different attractions ranging from all kinds of roller coasters, carousels and swings to a giant Ferris wheel and a haunted castle.

Visitors can also enjoy a variety of food and treats, including the gingerbread hearts, one of the symbols of the fair.
The fair is open to public every day except Monday with extended opening hours during weekends (10 am to 10 pm). The entrance fee is just about 1 EUR/USD but it doesn’t cover fees for the attractions. The rides are not too expensive either though, starting at some 1.5 EUR/USD per ride.

So if you happen to be in Prague during the St. Matthew Fair, make sure to check it out. The fair is extremely popular among children from all over the country but many adults love it just as much ;)

This is really fantastic and wonderful fun fair @czechglobalhosts that I have never seen before. All the things in this fun fair are looking very colorful and attractive. This is really best for fun and enjoyment not only for children also for adults. I really loved this amazing fun fair.

Such fun! Makes me remember how colorful everything was when I was in the Czech Republic. I was in Prague for a giant rave/music festival where Bjork and others played; in the late 90's I think. I got tired and woke up with people lying on top of me in the morning...memories. I just figured all night parties were cheaper than hostels and just as loud.

St. Matthew´s Fair. Is amazing, I´m from Mexico and the biggest Fair we have its call San Marcos in Aguas Calientes Its amazing because Mexico invites a Country to visit the Fair each year so a lot of fun :D

Wow, so incredible. It reminded me of Global Village, Dubai which is basically a cultural exhibition of almost all the well-renowned economies of World. You must have had a fabulous time. It was good to read about amazing fun fair.
