Exploring the hidden side of Charleston, South CarolinasteemCreated with Sketch.

I've continued my business trip to Charleston over the past few days and am really loving the city's history, architecture, incredible restaurants, and surprises. As I was walking down busy King Street shopping district yesterday, I noticed an open gate leading to a long garden path lined with Spanish Moss draped Crepe Myrtle trees and lush foliage.

It looked interesting so I decided to explore.

I found that it led to the Unitarian Church and Graveyard, dating back to the late 1700's. It was built by the Society of Dissenters, before it was taken over by the Unitarians. It was a beautifully overgrown graveyard, giving it what I thought was a very creepy vibe, but I'll leave it to you to judge from the photographs.

I didn't get a chance to go on a ghost tour while I was here, but I have to think this is a one of the regular stops on those tours. If you are ever in Charleston, check it out.

Spanish Moss draped Crape Myrtles look heaven-like. Color and texture palettes that nature curates for itself...speechless! Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome. It was really quite a nice surprise to stumble upon it.
