Naawan Waterfalls

in travel •  7 years ago

Kanapulan waterfalls is one of many falls upstream that can be found at Tagbalugo, Naawan, Misamis Oriental, Mindanao, Philippines. It is around 40 kms from the city of Iligan.

Just further upstream from the Kanapulan Falls, another one can be found. It is not as tall as the Kanapulan Falls and also it does not have a name or my classmate just don't know it.

Further upstream from the 2nd waterfalls, a third waterfalls can be found. This time it has a name and it is called "Abaga ni Kulas".

Abaga in local word (Cebuano dialect) is a word which means "shoulder". The local word "ni" means "of" in English. "Kulas" is a common nickname for Pilipinos. A Filiino name for the name Nicholas.

Kulas also happens to be the nickname or Filipino name of a famous Canadian named Kyle who roamed around the Philippine archipelago.

Kulas has been to many places which the vast majority of the Filipinos have never been before. To note, Kyle or Kulas have been to places that we Filipinos never have thought that those places he visited ever existed in the country.

It is amazing too, that he,"Kulas", have adopted some Filipino culture. Now where were we? This story is not about Kulas or Kyle from Canada.

Another picture from different angle of Abaga ni Kulas waterfalls.

Just on the middle of Abaga ni Kulas, a small pool can be found. It is like an infinity pool in the middle of the forest.

Still from Abaga ni Kulas, a full view of the pool.

Pic from top of Abaga ni Kulas Waterfalls, we can see how small the people from up above here.

Just from the vantage point before the water falls from the Abaga ni Kulas Waterfalls. It is just amazing to take a dip at these waters. My classmate has been here many times and it always is enticing to swim here. A natural infinity pool at the middle of the forest. Well it is a proven fact that man just copied infinity pools from natural landscapes.

Going further upstream, a sight like this is much too common.

A further hike from Abaga ni Kulas, a fourth waterfalls can be found.

A fifth waterfalls further upstream. The hike towards here could be very challenging to some but not for the local guides whom my classmate has hired.

The sixth waterfalls upstream.

It may be a moonshot to find some dinosaur fossils here, but who knows? My classmate doesn't know for sure. Because if he did, then he could have already shown it with these pics.

It is also amazing to see some kind of rock slabs along the river banks.

Could there be some ancient ruins of a long lost civilization around somewhere here? My classmate asked himself and he really does not know.

Love trekking to waterfalls in the Philippines. Currently though, I have had a hard time just visiting all the falls in Samar. I still have a bucket list there! Nice photos.

Yes, my country has plenty of wonderful waterfalls but the roads and paths to these wonders of nature are mostly the worst.

The one positive thing about lack of access... it helps to keep the site more pristine, undisturbed, and unlittered! Some things are better left alone, don't you agree?

I know what you mean. Good access means the area would be exploited fast.

Besides, it seems even more rewarding if you had to invest some time and a little effort in getting there.

Right you are, sir!

wonderful waterfall.

Wow such a idilic place.

Beautiful....it's looking awesome.
