DTube - Must See in Lombok, Indonesia - Tanjung Aan & Bukit Merese

After making a couple of friends at the hostel I was staying at in Senggigi, we decided to drive all the way past Kuta, an hour and a half away, to get to Tanjung Aan, one of the best beaches in Lombok. The beach is in a bay with beautiful turquoise water.

There are quite a few things to see and do in this area of Lombok, so I suggest staying a couple days if you have the time. I wish I could have seen more but didn't have the time.

What I did have time to see was Bukit Merese. It is a peninsula right next to Tanjung Aan. The rolling green hills and cliff faces made me wonder if I teleported out of Indonesia straight into Ireland. The views from these hills are amazing on all sides.

A lot of people go there to watch the sunset over the ocean, but not many people venture further along the peninsula. Walking to the end of it is where I found my favorite beach in the world. It was surrounded by cliff faces and the sand was so soft to the touch it felt like walking on a cloud. It looked so undisturbed that I felt like I owned it (I wish). As far as I know, the beach doesn't have a name. So I named it Dave Beach. :D

The next day, I wanted to take things a bit easier so I just went to the beach that was close to my hostel. I met up with a local friend I made there and we hung out for a couple hours. Went to the ghost villa again and waited the rain out in a roadside shop.

After that I drove to the north side of the island. No particular destination in mind. It rains more there than the south side so i got pretty soaked. I did see some beautiful rice fields, though.

lombok look awesome.. beautiful green landscape, I am planning to go there on june, hopefully I can make it there !
