Travel: Enjoying the Deadsea in Israel

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

After my perfect hike threw Ein Gedi National park my "travelbuddyforaday" and I drove the Deadsea.
It wasn't difficult but I do warn you for picking a sweet spot at the beach.
Please make sure you visit a place where they have a clean water shower. It is very tempting to park the car at every stop you see and take a quick dip in the water. However, the water you're floating in is so salty that your skin starts to burn a bit if you don't shower afterwards. Especially when it is over 35 degrees Celsius.

So we drove to Ein Bokek (I'll add this blog to https://steemitworldmap.com).
Where they told me that the dead sea is the lowest located lake in the world. That is the reason why it that salty. It is currently at 420 meter under sea level. Which makes in a really interesting place and where you can find a lot of tourist as well. Nevertheless, we had an amazing experience and I think it is a must see if you visit Israel.

You can see me floating with both my arms out of the water, but is just as easy to float on your tummy or even on your side. I've been a competitive swimmer pretty much my whole life and moving threw this water is something I haven't experienced once!
If you go down from Ein Gedi National park you have a fantastic view over the deadsea. The otherside of the sea is Jordan!

Nice, Ein bokek is the a really nice spot. I been here several times, and also did the Hike to Ein Gedi its awesome! My crazy brother did the same thing but at night.

Wow, that is great. I have thought of doing this at night as well. It is a lot colder and I bet the view is perfect with the moon we had that night. However, things were a bit dangerous cause of the floodings that have been going on last week.
If your brother has any photos I would love to seem them.

yes the night sky in that area is gorgeous because there are no lights to obstract the view at all. unfortunately he made no photos at night...

It looks awesome, must be great to be able to float like that! I have myself been on the other side (Jordan) but unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to go for a swim! :)

It is sad you didn't have the chance. Make sure you'll do it before it runs completely dry though!

Yes floating pictures! Can't imagine how this feels, floating on your side!? Did you try some different strokes?

No, the salt in my eyes would have been horrific!

That looks likes a nice trip!
Very cool captures and amazing landscapes. Israel is definitely on my list since I've got two surfing buddies living in Haifa :-) Hopefully I'll make it soon.

Enjoy your time!

Haifa is perfect! I met someone who lives in Herzliya and he surfs as well. Unfortunately there were no waves what so ever when I've been there.
