Monastery Morača, MontenegrosteemCreated with Sketch.

About two weeks ago I had to go to my homeland, Montenegro because my grandfather died after being ill for a long time. Everything was pretty sad for me because I knew he was old (84) and sick but he was still the only grandpa I ever met because my father's father died when he was a baby.

Therefore I haven't been thinking too much about taking photos of a breathtaking nature in Montenegro nor Podgorica, the capital city and my homecity. I was there for few days and then I had to leave and travel back first to Zlatibor (a mountain in Serbia) and then to Novi Sad.

As my uncle and my cousin were going with their car back to Belgrade, they gave me a lift to Zlatibor. Just when we got outside Podgorica my uncle wanted to visit famous monastery Morača, situated near the beautiful river Morača canyon.

The monastery was founded in 13th century by Nemanjić dynasty and it is one of the best known Orthodox monasteries in Montenegro.

The church was built in the Rascian style that is one of two most common styles for sacral buildings used in this part of Europe. The other one is the Moravian style.

Surrounding buildings are from 16th century or newer.

The thing a like the most about this place are the plants that look so healthy and the atmosphere of peace. It seemed like time is frozen and everything was in harmony.

This was the first time I wanted to take some photos since I left Serbia and I had just enough battery to do so.

Visiting a monastery wasn't something I planned but at the end it was very calming experience.

I hope I will show you more of Montenegro in the future.

Have a nice days and enjoy your life as much as you can.
