Why You Should Not Feel Inspired by Those Superficial Travel Bloggers Here?

Are you tired of seeing the same content about travel on the trending page? It’s pretty much the same thing those travel agencies highly advertise with regard to travel, that ordinary people down here won’t be able to afford those luxury tours unless they slave themselves for a year to be able to have just a few days of well-deserved holiday. Those fancy resorts you wish you could afford, those exotic places you wish you could visit someday, leaving you just wishing...

Someday...

A pretty common word you utter whenever you read yet another glorious portrayal of travels of those steemians. Sure, it’s nice to be able to afford comfort especially when you have the money. It’s nice to be able to relax in a fancy hotel. It’s nice to be able to interact with animals in some exotic part of the world. It’s nice to be able to take a photo of your food and let the Steemians mouth water.

But the thing is, the steemit world comprises of ordinary people who are working hard writing here every day, in hopes of being able to do what they love to do, in hopes of not having to slave themselves to the jobs they hate. The normal everyday working class who are probably just resteeming those travel blogs in order to have a little bit of %. But are you really inspired? Are you just putting your dreams of traveling the world on hold because you are brainwashed here that travel is only for those who have a lot of money, or for those steemians who are traveling around the world with a lot of $$$$ to spare?

I say you are not getting some good inspiration. I am not saying that you should be inspired by my stories (but I think you should too!), I am just saying that there are a lot of hidden gems here on steemit who remained unseen, those who will probably inspire you more. For example, travelers who cycle to travel around the world on a steemit budget like @holm and @hopefulvagabond or those who quit their jobs to travel by hitchhiking like @allcapsonezero.

Support those travel blogs that teach you how to travel even if you don’t have a lot of money or those who will inspire you to make everything in life possible. Because travel is not only for the rich steemians here, it’s for those who have the courage to turn their dreams into reality, given the right mindset. I am not saying you try to live a hippie lifestyle or something, what I am just saying is that if you really want to travel but you have limited resources, then you can find some people here who actually did it and are sharing their experiences.

I had probably blogged about ways to travel with less money many times here now, or where to get money and how to have adventures on a limited budget. I am heavily promoting long-term travel because I did it myself. You will probably read my posts about nice places, but I had been to these places only because I was resourceful enough to find volunteering opportunities, places to stay with the locals, and some temporary jobs along the way. I was also hitchhiking, which I understand is not for everyone, but I guess I’m just saying that there are many ways to travel with less money. All you really need is a big courage. The courage to decide that you are not going to stay where you are. The courage to take the big step. It's easier said than done I know, but believe me, it is possible. It sounds cliche but it's really true that nothing is impossible. Travel is a life-changing experience, and it could even help you find your purpose in life.

You should look into what travel bloggers learned from their travels, the difficulties and challenges they encounter, that would somehow teach you that traveling is not a bed of roses but a learning experience.

You are supporting another blog of someone who is staying at a fancy resort and not really trying to have some local experience that could teach steemians down here some proper lesson about life. Enough of the superficial blogs, don’t clap for the same thing.

We had enough of brainwashing right. We had enough of these glorious portrayals of people’s lives on Facebook, and that’s why we are all here. Aren't we? Or did people just move here to bring the same attitude?

The problem is that nowadays new bloggers just follow the established patterns by copying the success of others. So, they end up contributing to the echo chamber, leaving more and more people inspired to become “just another superficial travel blogger”. Find those travel bloggers with stories you can relate to, those who stand out from the rest who could really contribute to your life while you sit in front of the computer. Those who will help you achieve your dreams, or those who will make you book a one-way ticket to somewhere and pack your life in a backpack.

Ok, let’s leave these travel bloggers be and just let them do their own thing. Meanwhile, if you want to learn more about life and feel inspired, then find the right people to clap for.

A really great way to perspective it! I'm honored you mentioned me in your post, not because of promotion, but because it's a post telling the truth:) I have found many bloggers on steemit that I don't feel they get the attention they should, but still are the most inspiring to me. Thanks for sharing this!

No worries, I'm happy that I found your blog today that made write this spur-of-the-moment post! Thanks, you deserve it @holm. :)

This is awesome! Thanks for the shoutout too! My next instalment (part 4) of the hitchhiking memoir actually talks about this exact thing that you are talking about. I am from Canada, and the big thing for Canadians to do is take a 2 week tropical vacation when it is really cold. I get it. BUT... so many of these people get off the plane, take an expensive shuttle to a resort, and then stay confined in the resort for 2 weeks. They come back and say that wherever they went is awesome... but they really never left Canada. They have no idea what it is like to live there. They did not walk through the slums, or go to a grocery store or a local hangout. They paid money to avoid all of these things. They took Canada to a place with more sunshine, they didn't leave Canada to experience somewhere else.

Thanks!

Exactly! I'm glad you read this because I'm about to tell you that I'm gonna feature you on my post. Yeah, there are many people like that everywhere in the world because that's how we were brainwashed, that travel is only for those who have a lot of money to spare. But unfortunately, you'll see the same type of people here on steemit, and worse, blogging and promoting the same thing those travel agencies promote. Well, to each his own. But the people are just unbelievably falling for their glamorous travels.

Well said, and I will clap for you cause I hate the trending list.
Same people, everyday, since I began.
I give credit to some because they deserve it, but others are just complete garbage

Loved the post, so I resteemed it and followed you

Thank you @justiceforall, following you back!

Yeah, some people on the trending list deserve it.

But usually I don't even look at the trending list, I just try to dig deeper here and find those hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

@diabolika that's exactly why I'm following your travel blog since beginning and feel inspired by you - it is different from those superficial ones, which are trending every day. Your way of travelling gives much more and deeper experiences than staying in a fancy hotel, in particular by meeting the local people. Personally, I like tenting, as this is closest to nature, and I wouldn't like to stay in these fancy hotels even if I were prepared to spend that much money.

Thanks @bloom, even if people don't believe me, if someday I would earn more money, I'd still stick to the same travel lifestyle. I'm not really used to splurging and too much comfort. It just makes me feel guilty and cautious. I know that I get more valuable learning experience worth sharing by traveling the way I did. Those blogs about how people traveled with 'less money' or those who quit their jobs to follow their dreams actually inspired me to do the same. And I have no regrets!

amazing people with dream place to visit

U totally right, also i like car travelling is so nice specially when traveling with a good groups, and help each other by driving, cooking etc, i'm planning for a long trip with my jeep, so anyone interested?

Good for you! Goodluck.

There are 7 days in the week and someday isn't one of them ;)
You're right, we need to be unique and inspire in our own way! :)

Thanks! :)

Err yeah, I suspect there are a few people feeling you here. I don't follow many travel bloggers, I find it hard to connect-would rather see for myself.

Oh thanks @abh12345, yeah but it's nice to find some tips or learn from their experiences though, but like you said, it's always better to experience it yourself.

Great post! Thanks for sharing :) @diabolika

No worries!

Just chill like that

great write up, it is nice

Fuck yea bro!!!!!!
Great post! I could almost right a post about why this post is so good!
#1 only a very few will ever be the rich. Even here on Steemit there are like 20 people who make a lot with every post and everyone else is just hoping they will get a whale vote.
#2 Travel does not need to be expensive or fancy. In fact all this resort and restaurant shit disgusts me. Its just total rampage of the world pretending to be cool. Honestly I am not inspired but disgusted with such acts.
I shall stop there hahahahahaha

Haha thanks @quinneaker, finally I was able to write something like this, hoping that some few people who share the same sentiment might be able to read.

Yes I feel you. Most won't but I do.
I learned long ago not to do or not do because of what others did or didn't do. Nor what others approved of or disapproved of. Nor want what others wanted.
Blessings

Definitely worth an upvoted and a resteem :)

Thank you so much!

Very nice....

Hey! yeah, I was a little bit tired of that kind of travel stories... thanks for the "hidden gems " ;-)
Big hug! Steemitri The Mannequin
P.S. Soon I will go on a trip too :-)

Thanks, have fun on your trip!

The great thing about Steem is we can find our community. But, you're right, you have to get off the trending page. I like diversity: the rich way is not the only way to travel.

Thanks @eturnex, good thing here is that there are some people like 'us' who don't fall into these things...

Yeah get off the trending page, and give chance to those new writers who are contributing valuable content, and who are actually providing inspiration.

I like trying my luck on the new page, or by trying a tag or two that look intetesting. I also lower my vote strength so I can give more upvotes per day, though each is less.

Yeah, I guess I need to understand more about this vote strength / power. I just upvote everyday anything that I feel deserves it. There are a lot of things I still don't know about steemit and crypto trade, I have to find some time to study every day lol.

what a fantastic words , i'm get immpressed when i found someone can express what i really feel but i can't describe in words and you do
am new here , the first post about this topic got my attention so i'll follow you because you worth
keep it up girl wish you the best

@mostafa1, wow thanks, I appreciate it! Ok I'm gonna check your page.

I am traveling and staying in 3 dollar hostels all the time! That's how you can do it for months!

Will folow you!
Check out my Asia blog: https://steemit.com/travel/@steamitbeta/blog-southeast-asia-part-one

Yeah, there's always a way to stay on a budget while traveling. It is possible, especially in Asia.

I like a bit of both types of travel blogger to be honest but "real" talk is always more interesting. There are a few fancy places I'd like to go but I'll always have more of a backpacking spirit than a posh hotel type type of spirit. I really enjoyed reading your post, looking forward to reading more of yours.

I agree @catonwheels. I wrote that there's nothing wrong with enjoying luxury and comfort during travel sometimes, especially if you have some hard-earned money to spare. But to see this heavily advertised on the trending page every day, it just gets old. And some steemians here won't be able to relate.

Thanks for your thoughts on this and for promoting others who have found ways to live their dreams with less money in the bank! There are so many different styles of travel and ways to achieve your goals. (In my case, I pinched pennies for years and now travel on a mid-range budget - I would do a lot more hitchhiking and couchsurfing if my boyfriend approved of it, haha.)

I understand you. There are a lot of people now who have worked hard all their lives and saved some money, in order to live the dream. It's all worth it!

Haha, good luck and have fun in your travels. Keep sharing those amazing experiences @therovingreader

I grow tired of lifestyle porn - I'm more interested in making myself happy with the resources that I have than looking at some unattainable lifestyle. And many of the lifestyle vloggers/bloggers are sponsored by these travel companies. They are being paid, or have their accomodations for free, in order to present a dream to other people.

And many of the lifestyle vloggers/bloggers are sponsored by these travel companies.

Yes, it makes sense! It is not wrong to make yourself happy first and strive to have that kind of life you dream of. This is a better way to inspire people imo.

You're right, traveling is not about stay luxury hotel, make some fashion bloggers' style photos. We travel, because we want to see our wide world, discover the different culture. But it's ridiculous that people really just like to see unrealistic life, fancy trips, and amazing lifestyle. I found some good travel bloggers, they post the real adventure trip, but have gotten so few upvoted. I posted about India trip, I think that I wrote pretty great, but it wasn't popular as just one bikini photo.

Yeah, you're right @liflorence, there are a lot of good travel bloggers here who are truly inspiring. They just don't make it to the trending page, a lot of reasons. One could be that they don't get that amount of support those superficial bloggers are getting.
