Hello Steemit community,
I'm extremely excited about discovering Steemit. I stumbled across an article in Forbes Magazine that lead me to various subsequent articles eventually leading to Steemit. As this is my first week using Steemit, I expect to face a learning curve and some set backs.
I'm looking for advice from anyone who will give it. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I'll be using this platform for just yet. I'm thinking I'll share my travels through pictures and posts. My wife and I are crew members on a 140' yacht that travels up and down the East Coast of the US.

For advice, I would suggest at first mostly read other people's posts, write thoughtful comments, vote, follow people who you like. And yes, sharing photos is a good idea. You may not get many votes for them initially, but over time if you do those other things, you should gather followers and start getting votes/rewards for your content.

It recovers fairly quickly. It's like a mana/energy bar in a computer game. If your voting power wasn't finite in some way, you could use an automated script to give yourself unlimited influence, and that wouldn't be fair to other users.

Well since you said I could. If upvoating decreses your voting influence, how can one increase or regain voting influence. I believe the FAQ stated that voting power is like the life bar in a video game, the more you use it the weaker it gets.
