Rosslyn Chapel One of Scotland’s most remarkable buildings

The first time I became aware of Rosslyn Chapel was after watching the movie The Da Vinci Code, based on Dan Browns novel with the same name. I had never heard of it before. Two years ago we went Edinburgh and we decided to visit the Chapel. It became one of the highlights of this wonderful trip.

Rosslyn Chapel, also known as Collegiate Chapel of St. Matthew is located near the small village of Roslin, at about 10 kilometers south of Edinburgh. The chapel was founded in the 15th century by William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness of the Scoto-Sinclair family. Since then the chapel has had many owners, seen many wars, known periods of decay and restauration but it is still there. A small and beautiful place of worship and inspiration and one of Scotland’s most remarkable buildings.
