The precious greek summers

Summer in my opinion is 100% related to Greece. I cannot think of any other place that smells like summer more than our beautiful country. I love travelling a lot and I have to admit that a few times I chose other countries to spend my summer vacations… I had a great time but it was not the same.

Greece besides the incredible turquoise waters, composes the perfect scenery with amazing scents and colours. Fig, geranium, trees, salt, even the hot weather has its own unique scent... The shades of blue make a contrast with the white houses -especially in greek islands- with bougainvilleas adding a touch of colour. An ideal summery scenery.

Nights are soft with the distinctive scent of the evening primrose, so quiet and peaceful. There is nothing better than relaxing in a yard under the starry night, listening to the crickets. It is really so easy to get lost in moments like this.

For all those reasons it is worth waiting for the summer, even when it’s not your favourite season of the year…

Amazing photos. Especially the one with the watermelon is GORGEOUS! And I agree, other than Southern France (I am biased though as I am part French) no other country in Europe at least is capable to replace Greece as a summer destination. I am between Paros, Sifnos and Milos this year but I don't know which one to pick. They are 3 islands I haven't visited yet but I want to!

I agree, those photos smell like summer :) Oh really, you are part French? Cool! :) I have visited Paris twice but no other place in France.. I have been to Paros and Sifnos.. I would say that I prefer Sifnos, as it is more quiet.. Milos though must be amazing!! It has a unique beauty! Go with Milos :P

Yes 1/4 French. My grandma was fully French and my mom is half. The funny thing is that my other grandma (my dad's mom) was a Greek of France (French citizen) too. There's a lot of French blood and influence in my family.

And alright, I will follow your suggestions and go to...Paros 😜

Oh mon Dieu! Alors, tu es français! :P Et parles tu-français? (My french used to be really good but I haven't used it for a long long time)

hahah Paros it is then! :P

Bien sûr!!! Je peux parler le français ;)))) Et bien, je suis Grec avec racines françaises (25-35% lol) ;)))

My french used to be GREAT when my grandma was alive (she passed away in 2004). Well, I can still speak it of course but not as well as I used to. I still understand EVERYTHING though. If you recall, when I mentioned my favorite actors (Tom Hardy and Ragnar etc.) I mentioned Romain Duris. I love me some French cinema!!!!

Parfait!! haha :P

Ah I love French cinema!! There is another quality, scent, even some coziness (if I can put it that way) in french movies.. I enjoy watching them especially in open air cinemas..

Ahhh.... You made me FEEL that summer @eliakon! I've been to Greece a few times during summer and I have to say what you describe is so true.. I am currently living in Portugal and have to say that the summers here have become my favorites though ... ;)

Thank you for your kind words @mayasky!! :) Oh Portugal!! I would love to visit this country!! My god mother used to live in Lisbon for a couple of years and she loved it!! :)

Awesome photos... where were they taken?

Leda de Piart (the photographer) takes photos mostly from the Cycladic islands.. I don't remember though the exact islands.. You can check her Instagram for many more amazing photos and more information about the locations if you wish :)

Thanks will do :D

My season is spring! I like getting stoned with the scents of newborn plants, the warmth in the air and the sunshine flooding every cranny...
But summer is dreamy in Greece too!!

I also love spring and winter as well, as I don't enjoy much the hight temperatures of summer.. Greece however forces you in a way to appreciate summertime.. :)
