Hi everyone,
I live in the northernmost-real town in the world - Longyearbyen, Svalbard. I'm also a freelance guide up here, among other things. I'm happy to answer any questions people may have about this town. Feel free to ask more personal questiosn as well since there's a lot of information which you can find online as well for free, like on Wikipedia. However, I'll be able to answer them if you have them as well :)
This photo was taken in January this year. We had the "pink sun", something that happens when light reaches Svalbard due to certain gases lining up in the sky. Normally, it's pitch black during the winter season, so this was quite magnificent to see. I was also lucky during the hike when this was taken by a friend of mine that the clouds cleared up. While we have the Northern Lights show up regularly, we get a lot of cloudy days, so they're not always visible in the sky.
