The big ice block (full version)

On the fountain I go almost every year in the winter. There you can get by the winter road of excellent quality, which is not done in the summer.

The fountain is a self-pouring well on the bank of the Sukhona River near the village of Porog, Velikoustyugsky District, Vologda Region. In 1941, geologists searched for water and drilled a well, which is poured to this day.

In winter, very rarely there is a large block of ice around the fountain. It depends on different factors and weather conditions.

This year, ice build-ups are particularly large!

I was twice this year, with a difference of a week and the shape of the growths varies markedly.

Water in its composition has many admixtures of iron and lime, so it can not be drunk.

That's why the stones have such a rusty hue.

But still the water is very clean. The ice has an emerald blue color.

Sensation of something alien.

The fountain was visited by a lot of people this year, all because of the fact that the road is simply excellent.
